From my perspective they pretty much own television media except for Fox, they have control over google, reddit, twitter and FB, and as a result of that, direct more people to left wing sites, while pushing people away from or outright blocking right wing sites.

In addition to that, they have more power on campus than they EVER have had historically, and I don't see any signs that their foothold in academia is loosening.

I am genuinely curious what leads you to that conclusion. From my perspective they almost wholly own the culture right now, and the trend I have been seeing over the past decade has been them taking more and more control, as once centrist media companies become more and more leftist. I am not seeing the same thing you are seeing.

For now, yes that's the case. But opposition is rising. Google, Twitter and YouTube have free market competition that are growing. Brave, Duck Duck Go, Parlour and Bumble being ones I can name right off the bat.

Soon enough so will Reddit. And I'm pretty sure after the election the Federal Government will ne going after google to break up their monopoly. The Liberal colleges of indoctrination are failing and going bankrupt. Conservatives private universities are on the rise and flourishing. People are seeing what the Democrats are and are leaving the party in droves and coming over to the Republican party. There is a revival of faith sweeping the nation. Of course you'll hear none of this from the main stream Media.

Where you see doom and Gloom, I see hope for the future. It wont be instantaneous and like all transitions it will be full of bumps in the road. But it is coming.

This sort of ego trip they constantly get is better than money, better than sex, better than drugs, better than food, better than pissing, better than shitting, better than John Wick and so on
