Flint and Shipwreck were better Characters than Duke. Change my mind.

Since the 1980s there has been a debate raging among Xers as to who was the best GIJOE Character. Some say Duke (Heathen Scum) While others point to the various other Joes (Righteous upstanding people) in the Sunbow cartoon as being better. I always liked both Flint and Shipwreck equally as my two tied favorite characters. Because I always found them to be more relatable. While Duke was well the Corporate character. The ones the suits think you should like but you really consider meh at best. So what are your thoughts on these three characters? Do you agree with me or will you try to change my mind.

From the comics continuity, one of the worst things that could happen is sometimes I confused Sergeant Duke with General Hawk, since they were both such good leaders and had vaguely similar looks about them. And while I would never diminish the courage, competency and professionalism or service of either of those great men, the fact there was a potential of mixing a Senior NCO up with the General rank Commander of the GI Joes is troubling to say the least.

I mean it would never happen with Beachhead after all.

I like General Hawk better than Duke as well. I know Duke was they First Sgt Hasbro wanted for the Joes. But Stalker already had the job as was damn good at it.

Cadet Deming is clearly the best character.

GI Joe is in this weird place where they want to be a "realistic" military but also have superhero-like characters. In general I prefer the larger-than-life types so I certainly enjoy the flamboyant ones like Shipwreck over the more down-to-earth Duke.

I think I just have a thing for Deming entirely because of the fanfic Year of the Cobra given that I can barely recall Cadet Deming from the show itself.

Depending on the year Shipwreck is either an E-7 Chief Petty Officer or an E-8 Senior Chief Petty Officer.
