Oh. I just remembered that one of the models of Shermans were called 'Ronsons', and thought it was funny. I'm sorry D: (I didn't make it it just popped up in one of my servers, btw)
In fairness, the British shermans had that issue, but that was because the brits tended to treat proper ammo storage procedures as just guidelines. Because apparently they learned nothing from Jutland.

There are some indications that Ronson meme only started in the 50's. Also the wet stowage was introduced into production only in early 1944.
