Gundam Gundam Battle Operation 2

Emulating Kill em All Tomino in all Games
I didn't see a thread about it yet, so figured I should create one so that any other Gundam fans may be able to share news/their thoughts/coordinate for when the game releases on the PS4 sometime this year (specific date not yet determined, but rumors vary between late August to November).

I played Battle Operation 1 back when I was at the tail end of High School thanks to a friend, but never really got the chance to play this new version. Now it's coming to the West, and I am looking very much forward to getting to play it. In this series Mobile Suits feel like they do in 08th MS team, actual giant robots with the right 'weight' to them and appropriate power rather than reskinned Humans who are super agile like you would find in say Warframe with its tech ninjas. It is set in Universal Century and possesses suits from all over it, so there is a wide variety available of MS to play as.

Upon release ten mobile suits that were voted upon by fans will be given out for free, with the following suits being the ones which won: Zaku-I (Gerhart Schmitzer), Blue Destiny Unit-1, Gundam Pixie, Guncannon Mass Production Type, RX-78 Gundam, Gundam Ground Type, Full Armor Gundam, Dwadge, Gouf Custom, and the Xamel.

For basic gameplay details, every suit has a "point" value associated to it so that if you kill a Zaku-I you get less points than if you kill say a Gundam. Weaker suits have lower spawn times as well, but that being said they are weaker so fall easier and have less firepower. You also will have objectives to accomplish on maps, though from what I hear people tend to Team Deathmatch everything anyways. In addition there are both Land and Space maps, with different suits available on each, so there is a variety of ways to play the game from maps alone.

There is also a rock-paper-scissors type format to Mobile Suits: Assault (Melee) beat Support (Long Range), Support beat General Purpose (Mid-range), and General Purpose beat Assault. I kind of wish the triangle was reversed a bit since it makes it a bit rough on Assaults since they fight the frontline which tends to be General Purpose, but alas it is what it is and makes some degree of sense anyways.

You can choose what loadout you want on your Mobile Suit such as primary weapons (some suits have more options than others of course), special upgrade components that alter your gameplay by tweaking stats, paint the suit how you like, and you can also customize your pilot as well since they are a playable character too (you can leave your Mobile Suit if needed).

From what I have heard the game will be of a Free to Play model, with the sort of loot box/crate/gacha mechanic we have all come to dread as its way of getting new things, but since you can play in various point ranges unless you really want that new Gundam you don't really seem to have to pull much at all so it's not that bad seemingly. That we will seemingly start with a wide variety of Gundams and suits as well thanks to the 10 given to us at launch chosen by the community lessens this pain a bit more too.

I am by no means a pro who knows everything about the game, but I figured I should give the basic details to everyone so that people would have a clue about what's in store for later this year!

Here is also the wiki, which in spite of needing some more construction does have a lot of the information on what Mobile Suits are in the game, so check it out if you want to see if one you like is in the game: Gundam Battle Operation 2 Wiki
