Wealth was literally the origin of politics. Some guy has the most/best resources? He's the chief. Someone has the most/best land? He's the mayor/king/whatever. So on and so forth. Doesn't mean that I have to like it.

I started out a progressive leftists "SJW" when I first was interested in politics. Then I became more of an alt-right/alt-lite type. Then I became a straight-up libertarian. Then I became the far right nutjob I am today.
Your right regarding the money in politics as we can't do anything about it.

Close, but no. Rather, Tumblr feminists bullied a friend I knew at the time to the point where she almost committed suicide because the feminists were triggered by a fanfiction story my friend wrote.
So it was more “SJWs turned on my friend for something stupid, opening my eyes to how horrible they are.”
Hey at least your eyes were opened, the first step to recovery from any problem is seeing its there.

Sounds completely awful. I am relieved that you didn't lose your friend to those horrendous people, at least there is one life that those ghouls haven't stolen.
I not only used to be a lib, I even was involved in Gamergate. The fundamental inability of that crowd to square their opinions with one another "People trying to manipulate what developers put in their games are wrong! Developers, put the things into your games that we like instead!" and "People who don't play these games don't get an opinion! Gone Home should be gamer gulaged for not being a game I like!" really soured me on them. So I grew the fuck up, read some books and now actually make sure my political praxis meshes with theory.

Yeah. I think she’s still around, although I don’t talk to her that often anymore. Her old fanfic Twilight Pretty Cure is still around. It’s kind of mediocre tbh, but nobody deserves what she went through for writing mediocre fanfiction. Lord knows, I’ve written worse.

Whenever I think I have discovered the limits of what SJWs will do, I find out something new, like trying to drive a girl to suicide over a Pretty Cure fic, apparently. I am glad you stood with her.
Sounds like it was a Pretty Cure/MLP crossover. But your point stands. Since it was something so trifling that these fine folks get so worked up over. It is as if they had no sense of proportion, to act like this is some attack on them and then conduct themselves accordingly.

I'm glad I did too. I don't think I realized it at the time, but looking back, it did strongly color my view of SJW types such that, when I encountered "alt-right" propaganda (and I mean "alt-right" in the sense that MILO, Paul Joseph Watson, and Pepe memes were "alt-right"), I swallowed it whole.
I once encountered a video by The Red Elephants YouTube channel arguing that the Left's extremist rhetoric and constant lies are what is driving young white men to the "far right." I've seen this argument vindicated again and again in my short lifetime. One recent example that comes to mind besides my personal experience was when PewDiePie announced he was donating $50K to the Anti-Defamation League, a Left-wing Jewish identitarian group masquerading as a social justice organization, and then received a ton of backlash from his fans, resulting in him rescinding the donation and apologizing to his audience. This video explains it best. I have no doubt that, were it not for the ADL's constant efforts to censor YouTube for "hate speech," people would not care if PewDiePie donated to them. But because the ADL has gone full SJW, people started looking into the organization and found that it had a history of financial corruption, partisan hackery, and censorship of dissent (in other words, your run of the mill SJW activities). No doubt, the ADL's activists are going to go cross-eyed and declare PewDiePie's fans to be a bunch of Jew-haters, driving them into the arms of those like E. Michael Jones, a far right Catholic.

I like to say I didn't leave the left. The left left me. They kept going further and further into crazy land and it made me reevaluate a lot of my views, and I ended up somewhere right of center.

Well, when I was about 13-16, I was a full blown socialist. I wrote an essay arguing for the creation of a world state to promote global peace and listened to the Internationale so many times I can still recite it from memory.
Now I'm centre-right.

Yeah. Towards right. Especially considering the left here in my country is trying to hinder our military procurements by trying to get the amount of new fighter jets we're replacing the Hornets with cut down from 64 which is the bare minimum to defend the entire country 24/7 with really dumb arguments like how 64 fighter jets is nearing the level of scaling our air force for offensive war against Russia who has a thousand fighter jets. Also their MPs are yappin on vapid conspiracy theories how we really don't need fighter jets and the military supposedly knows this and the whole acquisition is just window-dressing to acquire offensive weapons to please America and NATO so we could take part in their offensive conflicts as attacker and how we're just buying fighters to line up the pockets of foreign armament manufacturers.
After these sorts of comments, I've permanently decided to not vote any leftist in Finland.
