A group of rogue pirates equipped with strange obviously heretical armored suits similar to the Archaeotech of the Imperial Knights have established a settlement. They foolishly rebuffed a delegation from the Imperium of Man and are believed to be responsible for banditry in the nearby sector of space, as well as possession of forbidden technology. A few companies of Imperial Guard troops have been sent to the system to eliminate the force and if practical, have their dangerous heretical technology undoubtedly properly cataloged and destroyed by the Enginseers.

A professional force with some experience fighting Orks and Human Traitors. They are going to be led into battle by a Command Platoon. The Imperial Guard is having difficulties dealing with offloading the Regiments Command Baneblade. Engineers are looking into it and the currently implacable Machine Spirit.

The Pirates Will Be Defending The Rectangular Base on Bandar Desert in front of the mountains and have an hour or so to set themselves up in the surrounding desert or town.

The Imperial Guard can approach from either road and/or from the beachside (salt flats instead of ocean).

Victory Conditions are Imperial Forces Capturing the Base and/or Eliminating the Pirate Forces.

If the Imperial Guard cannot achieve victory, the Regimental Command Tank, a Baneblade, will be brought into the battle.

Baneblade (w/ Baneblade Cannon, Demolisher Cannon, Autocannon, 2 Lascannons, 6 Heavy Bolters, Auspex, Searchlight)

Forty Nine Leman Russ Battletanks is a lot to deal with and I'm not sure that low count SRM's would be of much effectiveness against any Leman Russ patterned tanks. A fair number of lasers, as well as the larger salvo LRM's and PPC's would probably do a pretty number on the tanks IMHO however. Ultimately though the Battlemechs are outnumbered four to one and the Imperial Guard has more additional forces to call upon in the form of the mechanized infantry on the Chimeras, while the Battletech mercenaries have a lance of SRM missile tanks and the fortifications of the firebase itself. The small town might provide some ambush and cover opportunities for either side, the defending Mercenaries moreso but I don't think it'd be enough to clearly nullify the numbers advantage of the Imperial Guard in this case.

Depending on the comparable speeds of the battlemechs versus the ImpGuard tanks a running battle might be the best for the defenders followed by walking back to their main base, the heavier mechs firing off their LRM's until they need replenishment and using longer range laser and PPC fire to if not destroy enemy tanks, damage them so that their deadly main guns aren't usable or otherwise immobilize them and maybe the Thumper can eliminate them afterwards.

But I think in the numbers game the Leman Russ Tanks, with a bit of tactical acumen, would carry the day.

A lot relies on what are weapons and armor ratings for these different eras. Would be battle cannon an equivalent of AC-10 and lascannon to large laser? If weapon and armor efficiency is comparable then pirates will exact their toll, but will be ultimately overwhelmed.

Yeah I didn't want to do any scaling right off the bat but large laser to lascannon and Leman Russ Battle Cannon to AC-10 sounds reasonable on the face of it.
