Here's my current recommendations from LN that I read

After their first victory against the undefeatable, the world screws them both over so that they keep on getting in on plots that involve possible wars between countries and world-wars or the world blowing up again and again and they just can't catch a break or get properly rewarded for saving the day using their guts and wits

Basic Premise: Socially Awkward 20 year old adventurer who hunts down Goblins and only Goblins with extreme pragmatism, careful planning and constant awareness goes on to hunt Goblins whilst getting friends unintentionally. Said Goblins are horrible rape douchebags who breed using other races' women and are clever assholes who die by the number but win against the insufficiently prepared and the poor villages. Socially Awkward adventurer gets slight character development as having friends opens him up to everybody little by little.

Basic Premise: Endbringers in the form of cute young Magical Girls destroy large/small portions of the world whenever they appear, depression makes them worse off. A totally sexist plot is formed to depower these Strong Independent Young Women with magical powers that can help them do great things like blow up cities with Getsuga Tensho's using Heterosexual Love-Kisses by the Male MC who depowers them through kisses when the Magical Girls fall in love with him. Taking advantage of their feelings in order to take away their strength. Chauvinism Saves The World

The Martian and Artemis are very easy to read (my non reading ass finished both in less than a day each, yet are gripping tales with excellent humor, make complicated science easy and fun to understand and feel like the characters are reacting to abnormal situations like a layman would.

Of course, let's hear it for Seikai no Monshu and its sequel, Seikai no Senki, in English Crest of the Stars and Banner of the Stars, as we are greeted with the story of the Great War for the survival and triumph over all the branches of humanity of the Humankind Empire Abh, the space-optimized genetically engineered slaves of a hyper-traditionalist Japanese spaceborne society (they created a variant of Japanese which replaced Chinese influence with neologisms based on original Japanese, which the author of these novels created as the language of the Abh, with its own script). They revolted and formed a great Empire under the Abriel family, of whom young Princess Lafiel Abriel is our heroine. Her rise to military command and formative experience on Attackers and in diplomacy and friendship with the young integrated baseline human and now Abh Space Forces Quartermaster Baron Jinto serves as the focal point of the books, which are just the right measure of serious and realistic with over the top and funny. This quite substantial series documents Lafiel's rise to power over the brutal course of the War.

Crest and Banner of the Stars are some of the few light novels that aren't first person, dialogue heavy stories, which means they are actually written like regular books.

I need to get around to buying the eBooks.

That's just Seikai no Monshu, Seikai no Senki has more.

Say, any Robert E. Howard or Berserk-esque Light Novels featuring MCs who are more “physical” & “normal” in-terms of fighting ability whilst going up against even mini-Eldritch Monstrosities?

So no KI/CHI or constant magic upgrades or enhancement being used

And the protagonist is a good melee fighter, both armed and unarmed and uses his intelligence in and out of fighting and is even able to have semi-Sherlock Scans to detect danger

Think of a Soulsbourne run where you don’t use magical spells and mostly just use consumable equipment like bombs, throwing knives, poison etc. Using consumables for buffs like say a mushroom to induce berserker rage or a scroll to make a sword be on fire is okay, so is having somebody else enchant your weapon

Only LN I know that’s similar is Goblin Slayer
