Disgusting Scalie
As we enter the new Biden era and the Lincoln Project of never-Trumper GOP holdouts fades into being a amusing footnote of history a new challenger rises to claim the titles of "GOP but we are "reasonable" unlike MAGA" under the name of No Labels.
Unlike the Lincoln Project, this is a openly bipartisan effort that is bringing Ds and Rs along with some independents in a attempt to create a center party. These guys have actually been a thing for a while, but they are only really coming to real proeminence now. They have a fancy website, a fancy tagline and ideas and of course a face: Gov. Larry Hogan from Maryland, a R in a otherwise D state. This is being pushed as a sign he is a centrist and the organization as one of compromise.
I don't buy it.
What I see are fence sitters and weak individuals, playing by a rulebook that no one has used in decades and asking for unity and calm discourse about 4 years too late. Had they come out when Trump had come into office to make their push it might have been worth something. Now? Now it looks like just a weak ass attempt at destroying the MAGA wing of the GOP. Larry's "centrism" comes from the fact he criticized Trump, that he let a abortion bill pass despite disagreeing with it, and his promises to work outside party lines.
This just comes off as a RINO and a weak individual, not a centrist. He made no attempt to actually "centralize" the mostly left wing bill of abotion on his state. He called out the Texas abortion ban as going too far because of the clause that lets people snitch and sue those who do abortions and those who help, which I will give him is a fair criticism but ignores the fact that if that part was taken away the Ds would not be happy to disagree. He is still operating under the at this point naive assumption there is any sort of dialogue and compromise going on. There isn't.
So far all these articles and sources on him make him sound like he just does everything the Ds want while grumbling a bit, or toning it down some. I am gonna be honest I am not gonna dig for it but if anyone can find I would love to see if there is any examples of this No Labels org or this Problem Solver Caucasus and the Governor actually enforcing MAGA and right wing points instead of just reducing them or slowing down progressive points while letting it pass.
