It's hard to believe that it's been more than a decade since some friends and I got together to start our own fanzine. Basically we were tired of magazines like OtakuUSA basically giving glowing reviews to everything they ever talked about, and decided we'd do our own magazine, with blackjack and hookers, which was more in line with our own sarcastically critical outlook on things.
MaximumWeeaboo | Celebrating 11 Years of Oldtakuism
We've written all manner or articles on things, as well as making some video reviews and omakes that show you the kinds of things we joke about as we watch things in our anime group. We have slowed down a bit since we've left college and had to get real jobs, but still put things out on occasion. Our latest, "22-hu Edition" dropped on the strongest day (9/9), and we usually try to put on out for Pearl Harbor Day as well.
