Economics Our Wile E. Coyote Economy

Just a time-traveling robot stranded on Earth.
If you have a back yard plant vegetables if nothing happens you save money on food if shit goes down it can make a serious difference

In the latter case, you'll need to protect them (as well as yourself) from roving mobs bent on pilfering your stuff.

Not sure they'll be able to maintain the plants you cultivated so devotedly if they get their hands on them, unfortunately, as odds are most of those people either don't know how to garden or never bothered with it. :(

Ok.

If we're talking the problems with the economy, we're getting into a lot of issues, many of which go back to the most basic elements of economics, and how the Gov ignores them to max out their own power.

I could rant, but, in general, the biggest immediate issue is the Finantial Crash of 2008? They never fixed what went wrong there, they just bailed out the bastards in question, and let them keep screwing up. There's a lot of other factors, up to and including all the so called "Green" stuff, and, well, a bunch of other things that make it hard to do anything profitable without Govenment support.

Want to build a Nuke Powerplant, that'll make real profit for decades? NO! HATE! (Actualy works)

Want a solar field that will never make money without massive subsidies? Sure, sound great! (At best, unreliable)

Add in the massive printing of money (That's an undeclared tax, right there) and the Gov is taking more and more power, but the actual capacity to get the stuff we want is going down, fast. Food included.

So, Banks? Screwed. Farming? Not completely screwed, but they're trying. Manufacturing? Hahhaha! So, so screwed. Intelectual manufracturing? Often given straight to China, amongst others, with a bit of use in the "West", but.....

If I was going to sum it up? Our Gov, and the majority of our people, ignore how screwed up our system is, sometimes because they can't see it, sometimes because they're benifiting, but you can't ignore reality forever.

John Carter dubbed it Potemkin Prosperity and explained the obvious flaw, that our current status quo of producing nothing but hyperinflating fiat currency and enough military force to blackmail everyone into using it necessitates our running the world and therefore risks nuclear apocalypse or at least forever wars.

If your worried about things learn some skills. best case you can run a small hobby garden or make something useful or hunt or fish or something. worst case those skills will save your bacon and can hopefully be used for barter. even something like being able to make simple meals with limited ingredients is useful.

It's what makes the hype around fusion t such a trap.

Our government is so atrophied that it struggles to do basic maintenance on bridges and dams. Telecom companies get hundreds of billions of dollars in what is essentially rent. Railway companies prioritize stock buy backs over actually investing in their services, leading to entire towns being poisoned.

Yet somehow we're going to be building fusion reactors? What a cope.
