Was this a drug bust gone wrong and the police messed with some deadly ex-Special Forces badass like in an action movie? No of course not.
One group of plainclothes police officers were setting up a sting operation on another group of plainclothes police officers who in turn were setting up a sting operation on the prior group of police officers in a McDonalds parking lot aside a major thoroughfare near a large shopping mall. When both sides drew their guns, someone... then everyone... started firing. Three people were apparently killed on each side in what was undoubtedly an excellent display of police marksmanship and training.
The most amazing thing is that despite the judicious use of 'shoot on sight' directives and extensive use of plainclothes police officers is that it took this long apparently for something like this to actually happen.
Though keep in mind, having random cops going around shooting suspected drug addicts and dealers ended back in October of 2016 when police abducted and executed a South Korean businessman, so maybe with the drawdown in the Drug War to higher level law enforcement within the country averted blunders like the above until now.
