This was known for quite some time, I had seen a documentary on this topic years ago, it was part of wider array of pseudosciences that Soviet Union dabbled in.
Apes would not change anytching,becouse germans lost becouse they do not free soviet slaves in kolchoz and gave them land.
But,it is interesting,that soviet KGB was interested later in almas,kind of small Bigfoot living in Siberia and Mongolia.
Maybe they manage to create half-almas till now,and they wait hidden in Putin bunkers for RIGHT HOUR to strike!

Unless your supersoldiers mature in a few days, with weapons and tactics skills and discipline and loyalty already genetically ingrained, and reproduce akin to chest busters burrowing their ways out of your enemies, then you are better off with volunteers or conscripts.
Growing a sentient humanoid requires years and lots of energy and effort.

Actually that both Germany and the Soviet Union pursuing the creation of Ape-Human hybrids if there's any potential for success in this endeavour, it's entirely possible they'll work together and collaborate on this like the Soviets and Nazis did in other areas prior to the Barbarossa breakup. Both the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany could of mutually supported each other in advancing the capabilities of Humanzees for civil and military use.
And depending on the biological characteristics of these Humanzees or Humangatangs they could reach adult maturity twice as fast as inferior Human Males or in the case of certain East Slav Males, three times as fast.
Considering Ivanov started these experiments in the 1920's the first generation of Ape-Men could already have matured and be placed in service. Nazi Germany will have to play catchup and likely court Soviet cooperation in this field before they plan on betraying them.
The real questions is where they will source these Great Apes due to the lack of African Colonial Possessions. Countries like Britain, Belgium, France, Portugal, etc will have privileged access to such key strategic resources.
