The Army is useful for air defense and not much else these days, and the Patriot crews are getting work.Omg that isn't the sole fucking reason.
And no I am not bored of sitting on a base.
I am bored of our nation not willing to gain experience that it will need come the next major war.
Do you know what happens when yhe US has no experience fighting when the war comes?
You have 1942 US Army in Africa doing a fucking horrible job.
You have an America that loses more lives because it wasn't prepared.
Do I want war so I can do more then sit on a base in the US?
A little.
But I would rather my nation and my brothers in arms to be ready for a war then to go into the next one like we did in 42.
Your specific occupation may not be getting work, but that doesn't mean the units relevant to most future wars aren't getting experience over in the MidEast deal with the Iranian and Houthi missile threats.
I think you are just mostly butthurt that the Army doesn't have the good PR of the Marines, Navy, or Air Force, and want a war to be relevant in an infantry, instead of air defense, role.
Like, you remind me of IJA generals in that way, and it's NOT A GOOD THING.
To be fair, the counterinsurgency combat is very different from near/peer warfare, and the most likely war he's looking at is the CCP going after Taiwan, where the air defense troops and missiliers will be the most important fighters."We need a war so we'll be ready for war" is fucking retarded. We're either ready or not, you just want the war.
This doesn't even make logical sense. You're worried that we aren't ready for war, so you..want war? To get us ready for the war, that you think we aren't ready for?
You, basically: "We're not ready for war with China because we don't have enough experience, so we need to go to war with China."
We just spent 20 years at war. We have experience. Now you just want more so you can feel important.
He wants a small conflict ala the Spanish Civil War to test gear and blood troops in, before the main show with the CCP.
