Saudi Arabia's Oil Reserves

the problem is that they've used the size of their reserves to gain a controlling stake in opec. if those reserves are too small to maintain the status quo it could cost them dearly, and they don't have anything to replace their oil revenue
And the rest of OPEC does not have spies, intelligence and sufficient potrol industry know how to call their bluff because?

Likely, yes.

There's likely a lot of backroom dealing going on. Might just be bribery, might be, well, lot's of things. OPEC has had quite a bit of power, if a bit less now.

Oil reserve info is strategic information,a lot of corporations and governments would be after it, and IMHO such a big coverup would be hard to pull off, especially with so many eyes on the situation, including hostile ones like Iran and Russia and the other gulf monarchies, and even the USA.

  • it's one thing to make a claim, but if you can't back it up you lose credibility.
  • opec also relies on the saudi oil reserves to give them their banging power.
