Stargate Stargate Superdrive (Twitter Storm to Support New Stargate Content)

So apparently there's a new public fan campaign to bring back a canon based TV series or movie to continue the Stargate saga. This one was started by the lead writer on all three of the television series, Joseph Mallozzi, in the form of a 'Tweetstorm.' He last did this in Spring of 2018 with #StargateRising which itself was #1 trending in Canada and France, #2 in the United States and #7 worldwide for some time. It didn't provoke much of a response from MGM however.

His new twitter based campaign is with the #StargateSuperdrive and he even posted a short promotional video of it on Reddit that was developed by Samuel Cockings of Trekyards apparently.

And there's a video that has done a treatment of recent history including this event in regards to Stargate and it's current situation.

The "Twitter Storm" apparently started at 8PM CST time so about three hours ago... so... yeah. :p

This is one of the few times I regret not having Twitter.

That said, I also find it amusing that the video put out to support the stargate series had zero Stargate in it, just spaceships......which would actually be a cool thing, change the setting around to focus on the crew of a BC-304 running around doing whatever missions the SGC is doing these days.

While I would love for more to be done in the Stargate universe, I don't really trust Mallozzi (or pretty much any of the later iteration of creative talent involved with SG) to do it well.

What I would actually like to see is some Stargate related video games. How about a turn based, Civ like, game where you play as a Goa'uld? Or a team based shooter/RPG where you and up to three friends play as an SG team traveling through the gate and carrying out missions?

I'm pretty sure that the inspiration for Stargate was something like "Hey, remember the away missions from Star Trek? What if we made a show that was almost nothing but away missions?" so I'm not sure what putting the crew on starships will do for the Stargate feel.

Then again, I think one of the later seasons or series did this, and I haven't heard any complaints. *Shrug*

While I would love to see some new Stargate I would prefer something still based on Earth. Stargate Universe never caught my attention and while Atlantis was good it never mat had the original.

I would like to see a show that dealt with discloser as a side issue along with the aftermath of the Goa'uld falling in g
We got some of that with th in gs like the Jafffa making a true goverment and the remaining Goa'uld trying to keep some power. But the writers went for a big bad guy so came up with the Ori whcih I found to be subpar. But I think a show with a more mix of smaller bad guys could do well given that the Expanse and other simalr shows have been accepted.

A post disclouse timeline could provide poltical tension at home while having a reason that Earth has limited involvement in the greater universe as they deal with internal issues.

They had ships after season 6 or 7, but they were kinda dubious in combat until literally the last episode of SG1, so they were basically used as a big blocky space bus that could possibly win a straight fight against something half it's size (a catagory which basically tops out at an al'kesh or something, and T'leac once shot one of those down by himself). Atlantis had the useful ships for the last few seasons, and I think they did change things, because the ships started becoming the primary means of power projection and combat, not the gates.

That's not to say it was bad, or that if they had a new series taking place one a BC-304 or something it would be bad, but the series did lose something of its character as it drifted farther away from "some dudes with MP5s exploring suspiciously Canadian looking alien planets" into milsci laser space wars.
