The ASEAN Nightmare
10 Years P.P.C (Post-Paradox Cascade), days after the Time-Space collapse.
With the fall of the Primordial God Unicron: A reality Warping Blackhole is unleashed, rising from the bones of this mad primordial and threatening to consume both Cybertron and Earth! Triggered by the death throes of the Chaos-Bringer, a fissure in the fabric of reality was torn, bursting forth a doorway to the Forty-Third millennium. A time of discordant atrophy and decay, a time of unending war, where the laughter of thirsting gods echoes throughout reality as billions upon billions die each day. Thrown to the winds by these concurrent cataclysms, our heroes and villains find themselves forced to create new alliances.
On Earth once united by threats both from within and without, disarray and discord have created a new era, one where jackals and predators and ambitious men reign and their webs of deceit clutter all. Within the Shadows a displaced nation, devoured by bitterness and defeat collaborates with the alien menace, while my people the lamented and benighted Cybertronians have been reduced to but a shadow of their former glory... Pushed into near-extinction by aeons of war, becoming little more than squatters and refugees hiding out in lonely corners of the world, wishing to be forgotten and waiting for the end...
Yet even after all the devastation and woe my kind was put through, there is still one who seeks to bring the war to a final close in his favor and become ruler of Cybertron, heedless that in the end, his only subjects would be naught but Dust and Echoes...
Yet, all seemed not to be lost for the Earth, for heroes, paragons of their respective peoples rose to fill in the void and depravity and fought for a time, forging new coalitions and beating back the darkness. For a time.
However, even the mightiest of champions may only hold back the night for so long. As the roar of chaos blighted the multiverse, the baleful and bestial of many realities brought their sorrows and tribulations to all! A foolish conflict over something as primitive as an orbital elevator led to a calamity that somehow upset the delicate state of reality even further, in all my life I’ve seen nothing like it.
For the hubris of Kai Katsuragi and the civilizations of his Earth, a ceaseless vendetta against a rival faction's space elevator led to a convulsion across the cosmos that further upset and distorted creation.
On Earth, Two wayward factions have been thrown about by the cosmic spasm; The first, a task force recruited to reconquer lands stolen from mankind by a race of Subterranean Reptiles called the Dinosaur Empire, and extraterrestrial beings dubbed the BETA. The violence of the time-space collapse has left both sides scattered and broken. The Human defenders are left to flee from the vengeful remnants of the Dinosaurs' forces even as they too withdrew, recognizing that there was no victory to be found in wake of such a catastrophe; only the dead, only a blasted, howling wasteland where life would never return.
The Second of these Terran belligerents is a loose coalition of renegades and rogues working at the behest of shadowy carrion eaters of whose true identities and motivations I sadly could not divine even with all my power and knowledge, their deeds have ranged from villainy to indirect heroism; their last battle with a surreal cult of worshippers of a terrestrial Feline predator in a desperate attempt to clear their names has come to an unexpected halt, their members scattered across the vastness of Africa by chaos-storms and with virtually no reliable method of communication between their number; much to the dismay of their benefactor.
The cult however had come relatively unscathed from the storm, their survival galvanizing their faith in their god, but they did not lie idle in their stroke of good fortune as they dispersed across the jungles and the plains, into deep caves and ancient temples that even my sight could not penetrate, where they lick their wounds, arm themselves and make dark pacts with whatever otherworldly horror is listening, knowing that their enemies would inevitably return...
A third group comes as well and is perhaps, in the most harrowing of situations, buffeted by cataclysm, these warriors were sent far from their course, their original objective laying beyond their reach they soon found themselves at the mercy of Unicron’s former heralds. Scattered, confused, and relentlessly pursued by the spawn of a dark god, they desperately sought to reunite and liberate those they once sought to rescue from the clutches of an alien race that fed off the suffering of other beings. But even now, other extraterrestrial factions seek to advance on the solar system, citing the hellish commune the aliens had carved out on a series of space colonies as evidence of an apparently easy conquest. Some seek to bring salvation, the others, destruction.
Reality is in a state of flux the likes of which I have never witnessed, not in nine billion years of life. Events have changed, some have been erased, origins and beings are different, history has been set and reset, as reality itself endures the agony of rehabilitation. Never have the stakes been greater, for gods are dying, gods are being born, men are now supermen, and heroes and villains may soon find themselves interwoven into the cosmic hierarchy, opportunity for salvation and damnation, for new beginnings and the eternal entrapment of old grudges are now open to all...
Primus forgive me...
I am Vector Prime, one of the thirteen. The right hand of Primus and chronicler of all existence, time’s scribe. And I have failed in my mission to contain the Paradox Cascade.
But even in my failure...
Hope sparks still in the dark of night…
Welcome to Super Robot Wars: Paradox Cascade! As you can tell from the opening crawl above, this is closer to the older SRW games (And the Alpha series) in terms of themes and storyline, where it is a race against time to save everything from being destroyed.
However, in terms of characters, themes, and mechs; there are practically no limitations on who or what you can pick. If it's tangentially related to mecha, it's still acceptable! Even fighter aces and the likes of Iron Man are fair game!
