Um, I think nitpicking about Bible translations is getting a bit off topic.

The Bible was written a long time ago by people who did not speak English because English didn't exist yet. It also wasn't written in Latin.

It was mainly written in Koine Greek (NT) and Ancient Hebrew (OT).

Except 'the Bible' was never written in anything other than Greek and Latin, because 'The Bible' as collection of canonical texts did not exist until the Church compiled it. If you want to play games with textual historical criticism, you have to talk about individual books.

Actually, @bintananth is correct, the nitpicking over precise translations and biblical history is off topic and we should probably stick to discussing just this particular case, or take the biblical stuff into its own thread.
