BREAKING: AUTHORITIES OFFICIALLY CONFIRM THE IDENTITIES OF PANAMANIAN PRESIDENT GENERAL OMAR TORRIJOS & 6 OTHERS
*Group of Colombian students found the aircraft wreckage in small beach island.
*DNA testing & identification officially confirming bodies of those in aircraft are that of President Torrijos & the entourage.
*National Day of Mourning officially declared across Panama.
*General Florencio Flores Aguilar inaugurated as the new President of Panama in scaled-down inaugural ceremony.
Panamanian authorities have officially confirmed the identifications & DNA testing of the bodies are those of Panamanian President General Omar Torrijos & his entourage, all of whom perished in the mysterious aircraft crash on July 31st, which set off a nationwide search & rescue mission. Following official confirmation of Torrijos' death, Panamanian VP General Florencio Flores Aguilar was sworn into office as the 25th President of Panama in a scaled-down inaugural ceremony & delivered a nationwide address to the Nation. It's unknown whether Aguilar will be able to have the same influence that Torrijos had wielded over the years.

Sunday, August 23rd, 1981: Former President Jerry Brown strongly criticized the Reagan administration's controversial decision on reinstating diplomatic relations with the apartheid government of South Africa, calling the decision disgraceful & shameful. He also particularly pointed much of the ire at his successor's foreign policy doctrine, strongly saying the so-called Reagan Doctrine gives right-wing dictatorships the green-light to suppress the populace in their countries.

Wednesday, August 26th, 1981: Explosions at the Hotel Monteleone in New Orleans, LA results in 36 people getting injured. It's unknown whether former LA Governor Edwin Edwards (D) was the target of an assassination attempt because Edwards wasn't injured nor harmed.

Secret Service agents rushed the Carter's to an undisclosed location; It comes as outright hostility towards former Brown administration officials has escalated from potential foreign adversaries.
