Let's imagine that for some unexplainable reason, our homeworld Earth suddenly grows in size and mass by 1%.
The landmasses and water-bodies retain their previous shape, they merely grow to fit the new size.
Additionally no one is harmed by the sudden shift of land and mass. Tsunamis normally caused by the displacement don't happen.
Earthquakes are prevented too.

What would the world look like? How would for example the cities look after wards? How would the various cultures and societies of humanity deal with this? What effect would the shift have on flora and fauna?

I'm not sure how the satelites in orbit are going to be harmed. They will continue their routes relative to their location where they were before the growth. But the cables might get tightened by the sudden addition of distance they have to cross.

I get the slight feeling some people may start having issues walking due to the sudden gravity increase, planes might also need slightly stronger engines as well to compensate, but outside of that everything is probably a simple fix.
