*sighs* fine, I will start a general recommendation of everything Coeur Al Aran writes. He writes various fanfics about Jaune Arc, occasionally taking other characters such as Yang or Ruby and throwing them into different life situations. He updates regulary, his prose is acceptable, and I'm entertained by his stuff. Try to ignore the haters and form your own opinion about the quality of his works. I recommend Professor Arc and Professor Arc II as they are comedy that I find funny.
There's also Captain Dragon where Yang ends up in charge of criminals who have been offered a plea deal if they work as cops.
It's more action-y, with some twists and turns.

Right now I'm reading Red Thorn, an AU fic were Ruby runs from her home and its raised by some OC based in other manga/anime. Despite the cliche tematic of the fic (and nowadays what isn't cliche?) it is well written, got a good pacing and updates every third day so you'll always have your fix of it.

Well, Ruby, as of the latest episodes, apparently wants to be just like her mom... even it means it will kill her.
In other news, I've been playing with an idea using the good old GATE concept to introduce A New World: A World of Conflict and Sorrow to RWBY similar to a fic These are some Ugly Puppies.
Essentially, the Grimm invade the capital of SolForce -the self-proclaimed UN successor in the setting- and SolForce's citizenry acts like that happens every Monday. The alert goes out, the citizens get to their shelters, the LEOs make sure that the shelters aren't breached, and the military comes down like the first of an angry god. SolForce sends what even those of the Spacebattles family would consider gratuitous overkill... which begins our story with several characters which include a post-human spook, some soldiers from multiple sides, among others...

From what I can tell, no. However, it can be best described as 'She wants to save people in front of her but forgets about those behind her at home and at her side.'... basically 'chronic hero syndrome' taken to its most logical extreme.

What I would like to find are fics with the roles of the team switched. Ruby being an older sister to Blake, Yang being the heir to a multinational megacorp with someone like Winter as an older sister, Weiss as the human daughter of the Belladonnas and in the middle between them and the White Fang.
Anything that really changes the development of the characters in meaningful ways beyond fighting style and badassery (of which they all have enough)

The real problem is that... Salem has practically won at this point and the general situation is simply asking for a series of delaying actions. Although, given that Grimm like Kevin exists, simply running isn't going to be an option, especially with the artifacts in play.
So, there isn't really going to be a 'good' option here.

While probably not "the best", pound for pound or whatever, compared to other theoretically "better" fics that never get finished,there is a lot of it, it gets completed and as the queen of the eternal swarm says "quantity is a quality all of its own".
I have read about half of them as of this post and am working on getting through others, no regrets in reading them.

Haven’t watched the latest season but I think it’s only Ozpin who can fight her, but not kill her, so probably gonna need a way to seal her or get the Brothers to take back their curse
Also, stop her from being able to produce and control an army

Given that taking Salem's curse is easier said than done... you'll need someone that can bypass that immortality and seal her somehow... given that right now summoning the Brother Gods is only going to kill everyone but Salem at this point.
Well, there's the possibility of beating Salem, throwing her into the Grimm lake, and pour molten lead into it until seals shut.

If it works its not silly and that's the traditional way of dealing with inmortal beings after they defeat, make them the problem of those in charge a few centuries in the future.

salem's immortality is until the planet stops spinning or she learns some vague lesson about accepting death as a necessity. if I remember the wording of that shitty backstory episode. considering she doesn't care about anyone else dying at this point I have no idea how this either hasn't already been filled or is just completely impossible to do. teaching her the lesson that is.
idea 1 launch her into the sun. you don't need a constant force for this just a well aimed shot as she leaves the atmosphere.
idea 2 leave the world. shit sucks so we go find our own world with less crazy monsters trying to kill us. blow the world up as you leave just so she dies with it.
idea 3 she needs her brain to function. remove a large portion of it and fill it with something solid that will keep her from healing back up while it is there.
idea 4 she isn't immune to gravity drop her into a volcano even if she reforms she will immediately be burned alive again.

That requires finding every single one of those damn things and sealing them... and given the circumstances, she probably already squirreled a few away in locations no one would look for just in case someone figured that out.

Thing is, she probably has the ability to create more at this point, so you have to make sure you've got all of them or you'll be back to where you've started.
