Valentine Mk III "New Zealand CS version"

Anybody know much about it?
Strikes my fancy as an opportunity lost - an HE shell lobbing, three man turret (even if cramped) tank possible in '40. With HEAT and APDS ammo still capable of tank killing. Good for Far East up to the end of the war, in Europe/MENA up to early/mid 1943.

The IIICS did not have access to APDS or HEAT. The howitzer fired HE and smoke rounds. Basically just a good 'ol anti infantry gun.

You COULD make HEAT rounds for it, but they wouldn't be especially good, 80-100mm of penetration tops and bad ballistics.

Lovely turrets!
I know that the 3" short cannon would never be a tank buster. And any APDS would have atrocious accuracy, I'm first to admit.
But IMO c.8cm penetration with HEAT - available 1941? - would be good enough for MENA in '42 and against Japan until the end of the war.
I suppose the ballistics could be improved a bit with hotter loading - the Germans got 325m/s out of the same length L24 barrel.
