Warbirds Thread

Looks like a hungry little bird ... I'd give Tweety some crumbs ...

Drink up...

In case you are wondering where baby Fat Amy's come from.

At least the Marine ones are delivered by Sea Stallions, like Storks do for real babies!

That Lula is an idiot, is it really news by now?
I disagree with you on him being an idiot. I wish he was that but he has demonstrated, unfortunately for Brazil, to be a cunningly deceiving bastard.
Gripen contains some US made/licensed parts and restricted military technologies, so it makes a lot of sense for USA would be interested in which of them will be going where.
That much I knew, my opinion is that he is going the same route he went (or better made the Supreme Court) with Twitter, pulling out the sovereignist card when he is probably the more internationalist of all the presidents we had.
Though as far I know, those Gripen are outdated by now. Also, it looks more like they are upset Boeing didn't win the competition, which is weird since Biden was VP at the time and Obama didn't complain about it a bit.
I am also pretty sure this might be a potential symptom of the fact they realized they backed the wrong horse in 2022 and now are trying to remedy it as Trump seems to be approaching to be President again.
I am just speculating because I am not on the ground like @gral and @Sobek .

This one seems to be either a warning shot(although what exactly for, I do not know), or Boeing lobbying - less likely, because 1) It's been a long time since Boeing lost that one - and it wouldn't win it, after Assange & Co. tattled the USA was snooping around Dilma Rousseff's e-mail, and 2) Boeing has more urgent things to lobby for right now.

I think that is also late for that, the current US administration would have needed to not (along with Hollywood celebrities like Robert Downey JR.) support Lula in 2022. But hey they fucked our country but they fucked themselves harder, silver lining. I wonder if Trump reaches D.C. things will change in Brazil.

I disagree on the lobbying, it looks more like whining. Let's be frank, Boeing it is one of those companies who can afford to be pretty petulant and "childish" because it didn't get the deal because it still receives money even for products held with duct tape and spit.
I don't have much sympathy for Grippen or Dassault as I do for any billion-euro/dollar company but I rather us stick with them than with Boeing, especially the one of the last decades.

The F-15 Eagle, my beloved, in her most recent form, the F-15EX Eagle II

In the age of stealth fighters the Eagle is a weapon of terror. Her radar cross section is bigger than she is. When the Eagle is in the skies she's inviting you to fuck around and find out. And, with the combination of the AN/APG-82(V)1 AESA radar and the EPAWSS system she will see you first (no, deck screws are not a form of stealth) and blind your radar.

Ah, the fighter that effectively won the Cold War in the air. Poor old Soviets never caught up.

The design is fifty years old, yet the Americans are still on to a winner with this one. And she looks gorgeous to boot.

This past afternoon up in Canada, the flying boat Philippine Mars took to the air for the first time in over seventeen years. She is the last of only seven Martin JRM Mars flying boats built for the U.S. Navy during World War II, and is being prepared for her final delivery to Pima Air and Space Museum in Arizona.

The Marses were the largest and most powerful of all production Allied flying boats, second only to the one-off prototype Hughes H-1 Hercules "Spruce Goose".

Part of the interior display of the Polish air museum in Krakow. I like that Ju-52m it's always been a favourite aircraft of mine ever since I first saw Where Eagles Dare

And an odd mix here. A Mil 8, for many years the workhorse of the Eastern bloc, a Polish built Mil 2, you wouldn't have to be too tall would you, and an Indian Fouga Magister
