Not even a thread on this yet, you bunch of cucks.

I didn't even realize this was being worked on until the trailer dropped. As a franchise I assumed it was Dead since that's all anyone ever seemed to say about it. But it looks like it has been worked on enough that they made a cinematic trailer with actual gameplay footage at the end. It's being developed by Saber Interactive, whose been around for a while but whose games I'm not really familiar with though there are recognizable titles in their library.

Trailer looks fine... it even has a heroic pose with Titus and his three pals. It wasn't bad, but there have been better Warhammer trailers before, including the early Dawn of War and first Space Marine trailer, as well as the glorious Total War Warhammer trailers but I digress.

My only real complaint from the trailer is that it has the Tyranids as enemies (also what's up with the little 'gaunts or whatever backing up at first?) I'm sorry but the Orks had way more personality. SPACE MAHREENS! Warboss Grimskull was way more interesting then the Chaos guys that showed up later and I was sad when the Chaos Invasion first occurred and the Warboss was seemingly mobbed by a bunch of Bloodletters. I don't see how the Tyranids can match Orky personality and presence.

Now chances are the Tyranids are just an introductory villain like the Orks were, probably to set up an even more heinous Xenos menace, like the Tau or something, but still.

With that said, I am genuinely surprised... and pleased... by the announcement and hope this game will be amazing! If it can update the fun and energy that the original DECADE OLD game had, it'll be well worth it.

Or a legendary Lictor that stalks Lieutenant Titus around like Nemesis did the protagonists in the Resident Evil games and gurgles the whisper "Space Mahreens" just as he's about to strike.

They should do an inversion and have it where the Tyranids are fleeing from the Orks who'll turn out to be the big bad for some improbable reason.

But in all honesty, it'll probably be Chaos (again) or Necrons or something like that.

Maybe we can get genestealer cultists for enemies with distinguishable personalities?

The issue with that is that genestealer cultists don't really have that sort of personality (remember the fun, funny stealer cultists from deathwing? Thought not), and while the leaders might be better off in the personality department, they're all squishy mortals that would get hacked to bits the second Titus gets within chainsword range. So if you use them as the antagonist, they'll either die in seconds in a very unsatisfying way, be implausibly durable and annoying people when their unstoppable is evenly matched against some bald chick in an evening dress, or they'll spend the entire game running away/yelling at you over loudspeakers, which can be infuriating if done badly.

Anyway, while it's great to see the game, I have a few concerns.

1. "Lieutenant Titus" just doesn't sound as badass as "Captain Titus", and it's a totally unnecessary demotion. The ultramarine have 10 captains, people only care about 3 of them (2 of them, really. Poor Severus Agemman). Just kill off one the randos with no backstory or relevance and make Titus the captain.

2. GW has been annoyingly strict with the loadouts for what characters can take, if that carries into the game it could be an issue. The only weapons a Lt can take are chain and power swords, bolt rifles and auto bolt rifles, and bolt pistols. That's a massive downgrade from space marine 1, and while you can build a fun game around that, most games aim for variety for a good reason.

3. I had just about finished collecting the parts to build my own primaris Captain Titus, now I'm likely getting upstaged by a new, official Lt Titus model.

On the plus side:

1. We're actually getting space marine 2.

2. The fact that Titus has a unique primaris jump packs means a primaris jump jet unit might be on the way, which I'd really love. I've been really torn between building a squad of footslogging assault intercessor or converting them to be proxies for a jump jet assault squad, an official unit would be great to fill that gap.

3. We're possible getting a official model of Titus.

Titus has to be a Lieutenant since Lieutenant Mira was likely promoted to Captain after serving with distinction in the last game. Now a strong female character can order around Titus... as it should be.
She would probably be General Mira if the service studs are any indication. Each gold stud, from my understanding, is 50 years. So she's either a) long dead and buried or b) a General by this point given her military acumen (despite the fact that she's doing a colonel's work) despite having to face an intelligent Ork Warboss (while Grazgul(sp?) isn't Gorgutz, he's abnormally intelligent for an Ork) and an Ork WAAGH that goes along with it, and that was before Chaos decided to have a party.

If she shows up (not all likely, but then again a certain Sargent Marik show up in all the Dawn of War 2 games and fan-favorite Gorgutz pretty much showed up in every Dawn of War game since his introduction in Winter Assault), it would likely be Titus showing up to her command post to get an accurate situation on the ground than anything.

Yeah about that...

I don't think there's any cause for serious concern. You are getting upset over the 2021 version of this:

"Hall monitors are power tripping egomaniacs" had been a running joke since hall monitors have existed, and her tweet was just a repetition of that same very old joke.

Yes, the writer's a lefty and occasionally posts bad takes on thier twitter. Go look at the Twitter feed of whoever writes whatever your favorite show is, I'm certain it's worse. Her feed is probably the least politically charged and hostile one I've seen.

And, as the article arch himself cited said, when there were concerns raised, Cooper's response was this:

She didn't get upset or start lashing out at anyone or accusing anyone that had questions about her of being evil nazis, she made a reassuring, professional response and then moved on, which is exactly what a mature adult should do in cases like this, and she hasn't raised the issue since.

True, I'm just saying we should take it all with a grain of salt. Which I admittedly sucked at communicating.

It's entirely possible SM II ends up terrible, however it's not reasonable to conclude that it might be terrible on this basis.

It's still very, very early in the game's development, we simply do not have enough information available to make any final judgments. It's certainly prudent to not buy your tickets for a seat on the hype train until you know more. What is not prudent is to insist that the hype train is sure to end up derailing.

I'm beyond excited, the Ultramarines are my favorite Space Marines and the first game was so amazing.
