Which foreign colonies which the US did not acquire in real life would the US have been most likely to acquire in an alternate timeline? In real life, the US acquired some foreign colonies, such as Puerto Rico, the Philippines, Guam (all from Spain), and the Danish West Indies. The US might have also acquired some territories from Japan after WWII; not sure; I'll have to double-check. That said, though, which foreign colonies which the US did not acquire in real life did the US have the best chance of acquiring had history gone differently?
