Why Race is, and isn't, important

I'll start, with something obvious.

Race is real. Ethnicity is real. Some of the aspects of this are supremely obvious, like skin color, or average size. But, those superficial traits are the ones that people care least about. At least, in the West.

The ones that attract the most controversy are the ones that most people don't even want to see. That there are differences in averages, I repeat, Averages, for IQ, and for some emotional traits, is something many don't want to consider possible. However, they do exist, and denying them just leaves us blind. If you want more details, we're on the net, I don't want to prejudice your judgement.

The thing about all ethnic groups, is the largest variation between said groups, as best I can tell, is the external ones. The skin color of, say, the Bantu, in Africa, is far more consistant than their IQ. What is also true, in a simlar vein, is that every single major ethnicity, no matter their average, has both brilliant and stupid amongst them.

In interacting with indivduals, the variation means little, unless you're dealing with large numbers. Any single chinese person can be treated as what they are, beyond skin. The real place where this must be understood, where it matters, is in the realm of dealing with larger groups. Generally, this means politics, and diplomacy.

Why does this matter? There are several reasons. But, they all boil down to two things.

One, The people make the Nation. There's nothing magic about the dirt of any particualar place. People's genes don't change with a piece of paper saying "Citizen". If you change the people, you change the nation, and while those who immigrate to the West are a specific fraction, they're still different in culture and genetics.

Two, the latest research in genetics tells us that 75% of IQ is purely in the genes. Number two? Basic nutrition. Formal education has a minimal affect.

When you bring people into a nation, they and their descendants are not going to vanish. Unless and until they decide to go home, they're going to be a part of said nation. And, will bring some of their previous nation with them.
