Well, I figured Id be the one to make this!

Couple..."exciting" developments in the past week. Were getting submarines, albeit in a less ham fisted way than the carrier rework, as well as the USS California (Hell Yeah), Marceau, Puerto Rico, and Poltava.

Frankly im getting sick of these high tier premiums but I cant say no to my beloved California.

What do yall think about these new ships and updates coming?

Also, if you are looking to join a division, i am a recruiter for mine, its not a affiliated with any boards but is active and a chill group of guys, and one lady. Only rule is have a mic, be a cool dude who can shrug off a bad game, and dont be inactive for more than 30 days. shoot me a PM for more info!
 
I still can't believe they actually did it. I haven't played on a regular basis since eight or nine months after the game came out, but I recall from literally day one people asking for subs... but how the hell was/is not going to be completely stupid? It might force me to reinstall.

I've long felt like the game really needed to go backwards, not forwards anyway, the style of combat the game encourages would be a better fit for ships from 1870-1905 then WW2 types. The problem with the carriers (which almost stopped existing on North American servers early on) and the rework is just an aspect of that, the game style is just not really meant for it.

Sigh... I still love the original original US Cleveland. Before any nerfs. Want to sink two enemy battleships with it? Okay just keep shooting.
 
And I have my Preciousssss....

8" semi-automatic fire goodness for pelting battleships to death. Or getting cits on cruisers with timely AP fire.

So just saw this thread, and wanted to say I have a clan [VLCTY] and would welcome new members. I've been away from the game for a bit, due to dissatisfaction with the carrier rework, but with subs coming soon have decided to get back into it.

Also, the have the Yuudachi back on sale, and I have a little cash to splurge with, so I'll be buying her post haste. The Poi Must Flow!
 
I think Colbert and Smolensk and too a lesser extent, Friesland, are the worst things done in a long while to the game. Like the previous HE spammers came with flaws. But holy fuck those two ships can control an entire flank solo just because they can shoot at long distance with virtual impunity.

I’ve played games in a monarch where a light cruiser sat outside my gun range, controlled the engagement and just trolled me until I died. At least Wooster is slow, has no torpedos or smoke.

Just frustrating as hell.
 
Well, today was has been a very good day for me.

Using the event discount and coupons I was able to purchase Prinz Eugen, Mutsu, and West Virginia 1941 from the Prem shop with the doubloons I had saved up.

Then, to round it out, I finally unlocked the Akizuki. Time to Feed The Duck.
 
So, I just started playing the game fairly recently and desire to bitch about the Omaha. That I'm going to have to grind that piece of crap for two different cruisers infuriates me. It's like driving a citadel with a toothpick for a bow. I have to hide like a chicken behind BBs or get wiped out immediately. I feel insulted that my torpedos are functionally ornaments 85% of the time.
 
I loved my Omaha, but then again I'm a weird person who loves my Atlanta and in WoT still have a forbidden romance with my TOG.

Omaha is an ambush cruiser, you need to use islands and team mates to distract enemies while getting into position, then you can unleash 6" HE hell on them. Do everything you can to maximize your fire chance even with IFHE. Omaha is great training for both US Cruiser lines, you can't stand in the open, you need to be a sneaky bastard to use their advantages (since this is a Wargaming product, USN ships generally suck in many ways, get used to it early or switch to another line)

I'm already invested across the board into the good ol' US of A cause Merica, so I'm here to stay. And yes, I've learned to be a little coward and keep hidden, but the Omaha's bigger than usual outline makes it too easy to spot. I've had certain battleships out spot me.

*shrugs*

I'm getting better, but I'm still frustrated that this is the fork cruiser.
 
So im taking a fairly long hiatus from this game, the meta is garbage right now.

Smolensk: Is a god damn cancer. Her stats are above average but not extreme, which means everyone can scream about her not being OP, but she just sucks to fight against. You cant run, shes faster. You cant rush her down, shell torp you. she eats overpens for breakfast and shatters for lunch. She turns fast enough that shots in one location arnt going to hit. her gun range is farther that T8 BBs. I got a triple fire, used DC, and the moment it went onto cool down got a double fire set again. How are you supposed to play against this. Im an aggressive ass BB player and this ship just ruins gameplay for me. Its not that shes unkillable, its that she makes the game experience so god damn miserable. I have a smolensk too. I usually just shoot AP so i dont feel like a scumfuck

Kleber: How are BBs supposed to fight that! How are Gearing or Z 52 supposed to fight that. Cant run, cant hide, cant shoot cant torp. They just sit far as hell away with their high velocity, high fire chance guns, and you just cant do shit about it.

Kremlin: Just obnoxious to play against, I caught one broadside at 8 km, full 12 gun monty salvo, shatter shatter overpen shatter shatter. 6k damage. I swing my bow in, and he chunks me for 14k. Im not trying to say its OP, its just... not fun to play against, a frustrating, grind where even smart play by you can fail, and braindead play by a kremlin can succeed.

Harugamu: again... just annoying to play against, as its basically a Wooster, with smoke and torpedos but with no citadel.

This may sound like bitching and that I should "git gud" but ive been playing this game for a long while. Its just this new meta has been an agonizing process and just kinda killed all the fun I was having, so why would i keep investing time/money into this schlock

I didn't think it'd be one. Started on west flank, got into the general melee, had a Jean Bart and a Minotaur trying to murder me, withdrew south to heal, hit a Fletcher murdering our Shokaku, still down to barely half health, then finished off a weakened Amagi. by that time we were winning and I also managed to finish off the Alsace and inflict a lot of pain on the Lexington while the others finished off the Jean Bart. The Lex did its best to kill me, I spent my last AA consumable attriting down the bombers,. They were trying to get a torp run set up when my allies killed the Lex (It was masked behind an island so I couldn't finish it off).

I must say I do love the Fuso, because of how deceptively maneuverable it is. I can make those pogadas dance with the rudder upgrade mod.

Yet it is continuously shit on by most players.

So, uh, anyone noticing the fiasco with the Puerto Rico and the humanly-impossible objectives to get it without spending up toward two hundred bucks?
 
The SB thread has been bitching up a storm. I blame poor communication on WG's part, but I suspect that it was deliberate. After all, hype the T10 even if most of the player base won't get it. That said, anyone who though that it would be easy to get a free T10 premium was quite frankly being an idiot.

Me, I am suicidality attempting it. It helps that I had quite a few doubloons hanging around from a coupon I got a few months ago - enough to buy the first two boosters, which I think makes this doable.

So long as they don't put California in as a doubloon ship, I'm good. Why it has taken them this long to put in a post Pearl Harbor Standard rebuild I have no idea - they only had three different classes to choose from!
