United States Biden administration policies and actions - megathread

Well, looks like that infrastructure bill is set to completely destroy the economy.

China must be so pleased with their investments in the democrat party and in fortifying the election so the proper result was achieved.

Sun Tzy.Why wage wars,if enemy could destroy himself? They do that for last 2500 years..We,western people, never had chance to beat them in this shit.

They are on the verge of collapse.
They are trying to save thier ass and face

I think "verge of collapse" is overstating things. This decade will more likely merely prove the "Chinese century" crowd wrong. Don't get me wrong, there are some extremely serious internal problems China is going to have to face, but assuming it will utterly fail to solve them hardly seems like a sure thing. (Halfway solving probably averts collapse, but seriously weakens the regime.)

No, jt is on the verge of collapse. Xi is trying to become Mao

Inflation would still be a problem but literally everything else would be so much better.
Maybe, maybe not.

That's the thing about speculation about how things could be different: you never know because you have only one dataset to work from and everything after the point of divergence is "we're just guessing" instead of "here's what actually happened".

For those of us who actually understand the basics of economics and human psychology, there is no 'maybe' about it.

Killing the Keystone XL pipeline was guaranteed to have serious negative effects. Ramping up regulatory nonsense was guaranteed to have serious negative effects.

Putting incompetent Democrat politicians (but I repeat myself!) in positions of power was guaranteed to have serious negative effects.

Just like it has every time before.

"Would a different outcome have turned out for better or for worse once all is said and done?" is where no definitive answers reside and it's all just educated guessing on a good day.

"If I hadn't picked up this knife and cut off my nose, I could probably smell better than I can now' is a reasonably definitive matter.

Let's call it 'beyond a reasonable doubt.'

To be more specific, the Afghanistan withdrawal, the economy, foreign relations, the border crisis, and the job market would all be better if only because Trump would have never done the absolutely idiotic stuff the Biden administration has done that has caused so much damage.

He has a history of making moves in those areas that actually help Americans.

Though to be fair, if he did literally nothing we would still be better off than we are now.

Bidens moves have been blatantly destructive to American prosperity.

True, but there's no guarantee that picking up the knife to cut off your own nose didn't also prevent something much worse like also losing your hands and feet to necrotizing fasciitis because amputation is the only effective treatment for that bit of flesh-eating nastiness.

Hindsight is 20/20 and in the moment you don't have the benefit of hindsight.

2020 was a poisoned chalice year.

Even with out covid 2022 is the tipping point where the boomers start retiring in mass, that means the global investment glut caused by the baby boomers ends. That means all of the countries with out a replacement generation have to deal with it. This is a massive structural change that hits the entire world.

Second china is the single most overleveraged country in human history, its a miracle that they have managed this economic game of jenga but sooner or later that shit is going to collapse in some thing far more terrafying then subprime.

now add in covid and how is completely wreaked the already damaged global networks...

yeah who ever got the reigns was fucked, Trump would have done a lot of things better this is true but he still would have been screwed by all of the structural problems all going off at once.

So we are in for another recession with out the tools we had the last time around, we have inflation things are fucked and who ever is left holding the ball when this bomb goes off gets fucked sideways, and thats the democrats.

Nah.

They will just use the disasters as a excuse to grab more and more power.

Democrats, at least their current leaders in politics, business, tech, and the media are definitely the kind of people that would rather rule in hell than serve in Heaven. They don't care if the country burns down as long as they rule the ashes.

Its actually really hard to rule over ashes and rubble often leathally so.

Sadly, much the same can be said of many Republicans.

Of the elites in government? I absolutely agree. A lot of the higher up establishment ones are just controlled opposition or actually subvert what the republican base wants.

As to the other areas I don't think there is anywhere near the level of corruption.

MAYBE some of the bigger business people and MAYBE some of the people running Fox News but that's about it compared to the absolute saturation the left has in everything.

Don't make it left v. right. Gaining and keeping money and power is more important than such mere trifles as honesty and morals.

If FOX News executives were think that making tabloids similar to the National Enquirer and Daily Mail look like Pulitzer Prize-winning paragons of journalistic integrity they'd do it in a heartbeat just to get a bigger Cristmas bonus without a care in the world.

Remember the old Soviet joke: "There is no pravda in Izvestia and no izvestia in Pravda".
