Chapter 1a The Wolf

"BEEP!"
A/N: This is essentially a series that I’d like to turn into a manga inspired series (If I can find somone whom may be interested in drawing such a thing) I’m essentially just considering this a beta or even an alpha considering it’s just the writing part and it’s frankly fresh off the presses. Hate to Beg, but if I could get some feedback as to how this is, please, please, please let me know what you think and what needs to be improved. This is actually one of three stories, I’m posting them each one at a time since I didn’t have enough time to write them all ahead of time.
Katie Whitton hastily clocked out and hurried out of the door. The past week had made the young woman feel as if she had been put through a hard edged grindstone. It wasn’t that she didn’t like her job, far from it in fact, but even the best of workers need a breather. She looked out the glassed doorframe watching as the thick raindrops fell to the ground. She let out a sigh.
“Of all times, why now did I forget an umbrella?”
The young woman put her sleeve over her head in a desperate attempt to block the rain from spewing into her face. she looked around to see if there was a shortcut or at least a way to get out of the direct path of the pour. She didn’t want to catch pneumonia after all.
without so much as thinking twice she darted across into the alleyway. Under normal circumstances she would have berated herself for crossing into an Alleyway this late at night. The cracks of Union City were known of being hiding places of all kinds of scum and villainy, whether it be pickpockets, brutes, or worse. By the time Ms. Katie began to think of any of this however, it was already too late to turn back, for a wolf whistle.
“Well, well, well” a course raspy voice echoed across the damp dark area. “What’s a pretty little thing like you doing out here in the streets this late at night?”
Katie tried to give some kind of rebuttal or response but all that came out was a “I-I-I….”
It’s often said that when a man’s instincts harbor a sense of danger, his body often falls into an automatic response known as fight or flight, but there is often a third response that is rarely talked about simply known as freeze, a reaction that very much speaks for itself, and a reaction Ms. Whitton would learn firsthand.
Whitton snapped into the other direction ready to go into a full-fledged spent, but couldn’t make more than a single step before the fiend grabbed her by the arm. Katie attempted to scream but she was cut off as the man squeezed her cheeks.
Shhhhh-shhh-shhh
“Now, now, now, none of that, I just want to play a little game.” With a flick of his wrist, the man summoned a switchblade. a demented smile stretched across his face, and it was all Katie needed to see to know that he was going to get some kind of sick thrill to out of whatever he was about to do.
The young woman squealed like a struck pig as the sharp blade glided across her cheek and then across her abdomen. The crimson liquid dripped across her cheek like a rancid paint. biting on the man’s leather glove she stomped on his boot with her stiletto (So there was a practical reason for wearing such things. ) as the thug cursed and swore, Katie bolted into whatever direction she could, only for it to turn into a dead in.
The thug quickly followed and grabbed her by the throat.
“you know what scream all you like, but no one is going to keep Johnny Steele from his prize.”
. “I wouldn’t be so cocky unless I knew I was out of earshot.”
Johnny looked up to see the silhouette of a man carrying an umbrella. Though he couldn’t really make out any details,
“I don’t know who you are,” Johnny growled. “But buzz off. This is none of your business.”
Though Johnny couldn’t see it the man smirked. “Considering that I paid for the lion’s share of these streets, I’m going to say that this IS my business.”
Johnny gritted his teeth as the mysterious man drew closer. Based on the shadowed features the man appeared to be of Japanese descent, though his face was more akin to that of a rugged wolf. Johnny gritted his teeth quickly switching his blade with a gun.
“Get any closer and I’ll fill you so full of lead your own grandfather won’t recognize you.”
The man did not change course continuing to move forward.
“I mean it! Don’t move. I’ll blow your head off!”
The man continued to move forward until he was nose to nose with Johnny. Despite staring point blank at the barrel of a pistol. The man’s face read that of one of no fear. Johnny couldn’t help but grit his teeth. The man realized he was dead with the pull of a trigger right? The man did not seem concerned.
“Go ahead, I’d like to see you try.”
*BANG*
Katie let out a scream as the sound of gunpowder echoed throughout the alley. However when the smoke cleared Johnny’s eyes widened as he realized the man was gone.
“What? There’s no way. I couldn’t have missed, not at point blank range. The man turned to his left and to his right. No sign of the man could be seen.
“What the….”
Johnny felt his body fling forward as he felt the force of a punch land to the back of his skull as he fell however, he found himself gripping to the man’s suit ripping a peace of it off. Johnny looked over at the man. Oddly enough he didn’t seem angry, rather he had a smirk on his face.
“Seriously, I just got this suit imported from japan.”
Johnny let out a snarl. “I’ll rip more than just your suit!”
The man let out shots until the clip emptied, but not a single bullet hit. The man seemed to move faster than Johnny’s eyes could catch.
“What are you? Are you some kind of teleporter?”
“I’m not a teleporter.” The man’s voice echoed as he delivered an uppercut to Johnny’s jaw. (フライングティンバーウルフパンチ Flying Timber Punch)“I just move very fast.”
Johnny flew backward landing on his back. Blood fell from his mouth and nose as he hazily glazed at the man who now seemingly towered over him.
“Who…are…you?” Johnny asked.
The man looked down at him and smirked. “My name is Abel Ōkami,…” He leaned in closer. “….but you will one day know me as the greatest fighter on the world. Johnny’s eyes rolled to the back of his head. Before proceeding to faint.
Abel turned back and pulled out a cellphone. “Asuka, I need you to pick up some trash. Give Chief Razor my regards. No I’m fine. Nah just a two bit thug. Ha-ha, Asuka I told you I’m fine….hey when you’re done, sparing match, and winner buys dinner? See you then.”
Abel turned around to see Katie desperately trying to cover her wound.
“Are you alright?” Abel asked. The woman weakly nodded as she tried to stagger forward, though the amount of blood she lost had zapped her of most of her strength. Though Abel caught her before she hit the ground.
“Easy, easy. Let’s get you to a hospital.”
Abel grabbed her and gently carried her to his car. the woman tried desperately to say thank you though with her weakness it sounded something more akin to “thnk ooo…”
“Save your strength.” Abel said quietly. “You’re losing a lot of blood.”
Abel carried the young woman to the front desk much to the receptionist surprise though in truth, she was far more surprised by who was carrying her more so than the woman herself.
“Mr. Ōkami?!?”
“This woman has been cut, she’s losing a lot of blood.” The receptionist nodded and proceeded to call for aid. “Rapid response, emergency room receptionist area, Trauma team stat. Rapid response, emergency room receptionist area, Trauma team stat, Rapid response, emergency room receptionist area, Trauma team stat.”
Abel preceded to hand the woman a handful of bills. “This should cover everything. Whatever aid she needs send it to my account. Speak of this to no one. This is just between me her and the hospital. “
The receptionist nodded though she was fairly confused as to why he would make such a request, but before she could ask for a explanation why as a means to satisfy her curiosity, able had already walked off.
Abel looked up at the sky and gazed at the glow of the full moon. A smile moved across his face.
hopefully this is meant that one more thug would be off the streets. Though he would not dwell on such things for two long. After all, he had a sparring match he had to attend.
