That was the Anatolians not the Chinese, but I haven't ever heard of this Chinese war for horses before and it's the sort of thing I think would come up.
The war for the heavenly horses was between the Han empire and a Greek colony in western India.

Probably somewhere between 700 and 500 BC.

So,our crusaders would face only chariots.And considering that chariots of that time was used to schoot at enemy,not charge,then their crossbowmens would finish them quickly.
And even if they charged,it would not work on crusader infrantry,too.

P.S Assyria was only country with big professional army before Alexander the Great - so,they could be problem even with obsolate weapons.
