A Theory on the Deterioration of Hollywood

There's a term for all of this.

"Humiliation Ritual".

Humilating large amounts of young men for a good portion of their lives is not a good long term plan for survival.

Historically speaking I mean.

I felt this video on Henry Cavill and The Witcher shows a lot of support for the theory.



TL;DR Henry Cavill deeply respected the source material and was very passionate about The Witcher but insisted on sticking closely to the original works. This worked outstandingly for the first season and all was well, but then by the third season they'd brought in writers who actively hated the games and books and openly mocked them while planning how to change things, leading to enormous backstage friction with Cavill who insisted on staying faithful to the originals.

The writers then began releasing "leaks" about how toxic and hostile Cavill was to everybody and how he was a misogynist gamer who inconvenienced the crew, filled with accusations of the usual list of "isms" that eventually led to Cavill Leaving.

I honestly think that Cavill needed to sue those idiots.

I think fincial pain being ruined having their lives ruined thats what's needed these are assholes who have been coddled their entire lives they need to learn fear.

Honestly, I see that more as a result of the franchise-obsession that Hollywood has more than anything else.

Writers in Hollywood generally want to work on their own original content... BUT executives rarely let them go for it, so they are forced to work on pre-existing franchises instead out of necessity.

So generally they try to make 'adaptations' in the sense that they take the story the want to write and twist the adaptation to tell it.

That's how you get things like HALO or The Witcher adaptations.

IMHO 100% of adaptations should be done using writers that are fans of the original work, and Hollywood should be much less new IP averse.
