I think, to an extent, it's also compounded by the default politics of our time: liberalism. There's probably a couple subreddits they haven't managed to purge yet, but generally speaking the 'reddit guard' has been conducting struggle sessions and purges there for 6+ years now, and all the outspoken posters that remain are hard left.
