Technology Burner Phone Advice

As a regular convention-goer, I've noticed a rather disturbing trend lately, which is that most cons are getting really lazy and only putting their schedule grid and map online instead of putting them in the programming guide like civilized people. So I'm going to need a pocket computer of some kind. Something that would be along the lines of ye olde Nokia Tracfone where I can only pay for minutes and data for the two months or so out of the year when I actually need to use it. I need it to have internet so I can look at con shit that they're too lazy to put in the guide like they should, and as a phone so I can leave my regular phone at home and not worry about it getting stolen, and I'd like to not pay a whole lot of money for it. Does such a thing exist, and if so where can I get it?

A prepaid phone card like this?

A wireless store in your neck of the woods should be able to set you up with a plan (and cheap phone if you don't have an old spare that works with it).

I hate stuff like that.

Yeah. I'm looking for advice on particular phones that I might be able to get at Walmart, hopefully as cheaply as possible.

It doesn't really matter which phone you get because it's disposable. The plan that comes with it, OTOH ...

Some quick googling says a smartphone plus 2mo of unlimited talk/text/3GB data is doable for under $100. That's with Simple Mobile.

Well, the idea was that it had to be able to do the things I laid out in my OP, as a friend warned me that the cheaper phones might not be all that capable.

A bargin bin smartphone bought new today was top of the line or close to it a few years ago. You shouldn't run into issues when doing everyday smartphone things like calls, internet, email, &c with it.
