I am not sure if, I believe. But I am going to wager that a big company like AMC is not going to be that dumb. Local theatres and rogue employees, they could be that dumb.

Given how dumb SJWized companies are and how big companies have done crazy and incompetent long before SJWs popped up, you underestimate human stupidity
As far as I know, all the signs banning single dudes from the movie and demanding inspections have been either outright fabrications or signs put up by trolls. Companies maybe be dumb, but I don't thi k they're "believe the media" level dumb.
Also, and I think more convincingly, if theatres could get away with mandating inspections before you go in, we all know they'd concoct a reason to do it all the time and use the "safety inspections" to catch people who sneak outside snacks into the movie.

Went to the local AMC theater today. There were two signs (printed on pieces of printer paper it seems) posted everywhere. The first was a notice that the Joker wasn't your typical comic book film and intended for only mature audiences and the other one pointed out AMC's costume policy which forbids weapon lookalikes and wearing masks or facepaint.
