Erdogan is an ass and a monster, but he's far, far more competent than Putin and also has a nation that is in much, much better shape than Putin's Russia is, both in the long and short term outlooks.

The President of Turkey Erdogan has confirmed today that Sweden's NATO application has been sent to the Turkish Parliament for ratification (finally, duh).
Last time when Finland's ratification was sent to the Turkish Parliament for ratification, Hungary finished up our ratification in less than a week, and we were full NATO members approximately in two weeks time. So it's likely Sweden is accepted into NATO before Christmas comes.

It's really just a cynical Machiavellian machination on the part of Erdogan. He's only doing this because he thinks it'll get him his F-16s, but even that may be no longer a thing considering Turkey's recent posturing against America's Sacred Cow: Israel.

The Turkish Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Commission handles the Swedish NATO application on Thursday this week after which it is transferred for Grand National Assemby of Turkey for ratification.
They wanted to maintain their "armed neutrality" in case the Soviet Union decided to object to their membership. Unofficially they were in it but this war pushed them to jump in since Russia showed it was a paper tiger.

You meant to say Hungary because Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban still holding things up.
The deal was probally one where the sweeds were told to not get involved in turkeys internal issues, and give them some goodies.
With that done the Russian baltic fleet is now completely and utterly worthless.
