It also makes it difficult for the citizenry to focus on the tyrant(s) because it forces them to deal with the more immediate threats to themselves.

Anywho, maybe time to rethink funding NPR with tax dollars:

It just makes me wonder whether maybe lawlessness is actually an asset to tyrants. For a small scale experiment, just look at how forum or social media mods restrict free speech. There are no rules stating, for example, that you can't blame Islamism for certain crimes nor that you can't point out that blacks are disproportionately responsible for many violent crimes.

But nobody will actually do so, except for rare instances, because the fear of being arbitrarily deemed a racist (even if you don't think race or religion are the actual cause and may even consider them just victims) is more than enough to stifle discussion.
Always was.Commies do not really stopped common bandits who go after normal people, only those people who fought for freedom.
Case Poland - last partisant died in 1962,but last partisant small unit ceased to exist about 1952.
When common bandits,as long as they do not attacked commies, was practically never attacked.

It even worked for UPA bandits for some time - becouse commies first hunted polish partisants, then faked elections and referendum, and only after that they go after UPA.

Right wingers (Evangelicals as well as if not more than Jews) loving Israel more than they love America is still certainly better than Left wingers hating America more than they hate Israel, though not ideal.

For Neocons though, it's less that and more that they love the idea of America they have in their head, but hate Americans. That's the core defining characteristic of Neocons, they were part of the same post FDR liberal elite with the same contempt for the common people, but they broke away from the left wing consensus because they refused the shift towards treasonous support of Communism.

Sounds about right. They’re all traitors anyway. Democrats, neocons… it’s a big party and we aren’t in it.

Wikipedia pisses me off to no end. If you're looking up something simple like...I dunno...Rubber? Yeah it's usually quite accurate and generally informative.
But anything with even the most minor of political biases, and I mean shit as simple as "History of The Chair", turns into a a leftist-run nightmare that would embarrass even the most hardcore NKVD operative.

Using the host country as attack dog is not patriotism, but just another form of parasitism.
They think that they are serving the interests of their country. They think they have a mission to bring liberty, democracy, and American values to the whole world. They love the idea of overthrowing tyrants and freeing the oppressed masses. They all want to avenge Vietnam and bring the US to the forefront of world issues.

Replace the slogans with "Our Democracy"TM, and similar, and that's broadly correct. The actual American people are just there to provide funding and cannon fodder for the Neocon global Empire (and the private interests of individual Neocons of course), the same way Roman citizens were for the Late Republic and the Senatorial elite.

Now, Cato can loudly proclaim his Roman patriotism entirely honestly while his idea of Rome is nothing outside the interests and ideology of the Senatorial elite. Neocons have to do more doublethink to reach the same conclusion with all the advances in political thought since Rome.

You hit the nail right on the head. They love the "idea" of America, but they have nothing but contempt for the actual people. Just like how the Commies claim to be fighting for the proletariat while calling them a bunch of bigots and idiots.

Maybe there's some innate trait in tyrants that makes them cast their subjects in the role of both oppressed people yearning for liberation and sinful monsters who need to be punished for existing.
