The AP news article is here.
But basically Greece has been using its many islands to house incoming migrants while trying to process them, much to the local's displeasure. With the government planning to build more secure facilities to accommodate an increasing number of incoming migrants and a slow processing rate the islanders started protesting, leading to the government sending in riot police from the mainland. Rioters have attacked the cops with molotovs and shotguns, injuring 43. The Greek government is meeting with the island's mayors to hammer out an agreement but insists that the new migration facilities will be built. Amazingly, only 10 rioters have been injured and I think two arrested, so the police are definitely softballing.
For a little reference, Lesbos has a native population of 85,000 people and is currently housing an estimated 21,000 refugees and migrants. The locals want all of them gone.
