Gene Hackman Interview: On His Retirement, Acting, And Writing Westerns

He retired from acting back in 2004 at the tender age of 74 for health reasons, particularly anything putting stress on his heart and now in his nineties is enjoying his retirement. He binges on comedies, watching DVD's his Wife rents, as well as hobbies including painting and fishing and most notably, writing Westerns, something he had been doing since a few years before his retirement from acting.

The article itself is fairly biographical of his career as well as his retirement so worth a read itself if your wondering what the canvas for Little Bill/Popeye Doyle/Lex Luthor has been up to.
Good luck on his retirement.

US Navy Plane spots the word HELP spelled out in leaves on an isolated atoll in the Pacific. T

Three castaways were rescued from the Pikelot Atoll located in Micronesia, their small twenty foot outboard motor vessel being stranded over a hundred miles from its point of origin. The US Navy and US Coast Guard engaged in search and rescue operations after a relative reported the three Men, who were all experienced sailors and navigators, had gone missing.

A US Coast Guard Cutter and a P-8 Poseidon aircraft based out of Kadena in Japan were used in the rescue operations, with an HH-130 later dropping a radio and supplies on the island to facilitate communication until the cutter could rescue them.

This is apparently the second time in recent history folks were marooned on this very island, the last being only in 2020 when three men trapped on the island spelled SOS on the beach, attracting the attention of US and Australian military services who rescued them.
