I knew that HBO was developing new Game of Thrones properties but I had no idea that they were actually releasing one of the five or whatever series this coming August. It's apparently called House of the Dragon.
Does anyone care at this juncture?
Game of Thrones, IMHO, might've been the franchise that had the biggest wipe out in Popularity IMHO. As soon as that Final Season was finished, so was the entire series wiped from Pop Culture Consciousness IMHO. It was like on everything from baby names to tee shirts to lore videos and water cooler discussion and internet memes and then like... within weeks... it all just disappeared.
But I am talking about it now... why?
It literally showed up in my YouTube Recommendations. Apparently there was a trailer released a month ago... and another one just over a week ago. Haven't seen either. Can't be arsed.
Anyways... here's the links.
Somehow one of the trailers has twelve million views... so clearly some people care actually.
Like... how can a story about a Civil War eclipse a War of the Five Kings, the Return of Dragons, a Ten Thousand Year Coming Apocalypse and Crazy Dragon Lady Burning Down Kings Landing and Killing a Few Hundred Thousand Peeps? But who knows... maybe it'll be a good story. Little maybe...
And tbf I might watch it if it does turn out to be good, then I can get suckered in for a decade as it screws me over all over again. But that would require investing in HBO or going to someone who bothers to get HBO... or like... actually getting interested in a prequel.
