    It’s an election year. For better and for worse, by default neither side is going to stop firing until the ammo runs completely dry.

    I think they are going to go the Corbyn route, and say shit like "we may have lost the vote, but won the argument".

    Meaning denial of being wrong and doubling down on their political games.

    I understand that, but the Democrats seem to be so unable to let go of the trigger, their gun barrel is overheating and about to blow up in their faces; then they won't have a weapon to fire. Meanwhile, the Republicans at least know "short controlled bursts" is the best way forward.

    Always good to see new fresh faces. :)

    But now that I'm home with chili cooking on the stove (got a chili cookoff tomorrow, wish me luck), allow me to expound, or expand, a bit on my previous statement.

    Let's face facts, this still all comes back to the 2016 election. Hillary and the Democrats thought they had it all in the bag and they already had their friends measuring the carpets and the drapes for the offices they were gonna move into. The media and their celebrity friends on the east and west coast covered it as one would expect, living in their own bubbles and believing their own press, and damn near everyone was shell-shocked when Trump, for better AND worse, came out on top. I think the Democrats had gotten so deluded drinking the Obama kool-aid they didn't realize until too late the DNC coffers were empty, a whole segment of Americans who didn't live in the big cities felt forgotten and were royally pissed off that small town America is/was dying out, said Americans were also increasingly tired about being looked down upon and lectured to by a new liberal class who saw themselves as the cultural moral guardians, etc. etc. etc.

    But all that's already been said many times before. It's just the fact they're still unwilling to accept they lost, their warped version of "manifest destiny" for lack of a better term has now been flushed down the toilet, and sadly, they're acting as one would expect. They have put so much gas, ammo and fire into this hybrid media/street thug/Hollywood/college leftist/politico CHIMERA MONSTER that now it's screaming and raging like something out of John Carpenter's The Thing, obssessed with finding and doing damn near ANYTHING to take down Trump and avenge the would-be second coming of the Clintons. There is no OFF switch, because they don't know how to turn the damn thing off. And some of them are thinking "What the hell, let's scream happily and ride the beast right over the cliff!" And if you don't believe me, look at the "new" class of socialists now coming to the fore in the Democrat Party who want to make Socialism romantic again. God help me, I want to grab these idiots by the damn hair and drag them over to Eastern Europe and have them talk to the Poles, Czechs, Slovaks and Hungarians who had to live under the iron heel of the U.S.S.R. for more than 40 years. I have German relatives on my father's side I was finally able to meet long ago who were stuck on the East side of the Wall, and they hated communism and the Soviets with a passion. My mother grew up in the aftermath of the Korean War where the South Koreans got a real taste of how much the Communists under the Kims and Stalin along with the Chinese wanted to "enlighten" them. These pretentious kids nowadays who failed to learn from history (though not entirely their fault, the education system failed them, and us) and think Che Guevera was a damn hero make me want to fucking hurl.

    I would argue the Dems feel they have to deliver something to their base to placate them, after their media buddies and press events have been whipping them into a frenzy over the past few years with the tantalizing aspect of having Trump removed. If they don’t, well, they’re already facing an in-house insurgency from Bernie Sanders, the Squad and their fellow socialists who want to really veer the party hardcore left.
