According to their math humanity is currently using 1.5 earths.

I find that outcome suspect.

They're totally cooking the books on that. Counting CO2 emissions as taking up 2.5 of the 4 earths we'd "need"is just inflating the numbers to sell the idea that our only choice is to drastically cut our standard of living, because if you use the real figure (presuming that's not also screwed with), we need 1.5 earths, and everyone's response to that would be "eh, we can cut down a bit, and improve efficiency a bit, and we're fine".....which is not really in line with the DOOOOOOM agenda of most greens.

Oh... Jordan Peterson says he inspired the race hustler Te-Nehisi Coates to write the Red Skull as the villain. Clearly the best possible wording Variety could've chosen.

I think there's increasing odds of Alberta moving to leave (though I don't know the local sentiment well enough to give actual percentages), especially if we get a Republican President in next. If any other province goes, Quebec is going to go purely because they won't stay when anyone else is leaving, and at that point the nation collapses due to lack of border continuity.
Quebec: We can't let the filthy Plains Anglos outdo us now can we?

I don't think its likely, but the odds are climbing. Its the kind of thing that's only obvious in hindsight.

"Never let a crisis go to waste, and if there's not a crisis, invent one," Seems to be an increasingly common playbook these days.

I'd give it better odds of your country collapsing first. After all you literally had third-world style election stealing. You are about to pay danegeld to other countries. You have unrestrained rioting in the streets, and even prosecute people for legitimate self-defense. You also have cities were you have actual consistent biohazards from people shitting in the streets- enough that you need poopfinder apps.

I mean why would the rural regions of Canada wish to join the USA when they'd be jumping back into the fire? When this would be a golden opportunity to build a better Canada and USA at the same time.

Being a low pop agrarian nation might very well be a step up.

The exact same thing could be said about the rural regions of the states, given how badly the coasts screw them over. Though you literally made it impossible for any part of the USA to leave peacefully...

The USA has been in worse straights, as recently as the late 60's/early 70's, and recovered from it. That doesn't necessarily mean it will this time, but it's far from impossible.

We're going to have some real make or break moments over the next five years.

I think the entirety of western civilization is going to have a pretty bad time over the next 80 years.

Because this isnt a national problem its a civilizational one and god fixing those are not fun.

Yes we are all screwed in one way or another, which is why we shouldn't be casting stones at one another.

The problem with Jordan Peterson as a whole is he rose to prominence by taking a stance to allow misgendering and other actions

Think if authority on controlled environment like a campus could highlight you by not recognizing your gender?

Even with admirable qualities he helps perpetuate a zero sum game to mainstreaming of queer culture and expression
I can admit people get overzealous on hate speech prevention. But making sure authority cannot cancel in the real world is important Too

I just wish had more complex take than victims v. Nazis
You're absolutely wrong on the misgendering thing. He has no problem with using people's preferred genders. That's not his problem. His problem is with the government deciding what people can and cannot say. Considering, in Canada a father was recently arrested because he referred to his daughter as female despite the school his daughter went to secretly trying to turn his daughter into a trans boy despite her being woefully too young to make that kind of a decision. I recall being told extensively over on SB that misgendering someone wouldn't cause any prison time or fines and yet it's happening. Hell, it looks like Castro's son's administration is pushing Canada towards, it may be a little late to stop it from turning legitimate fascist.

I'm hoping the above is just a technical issue and not a legitimate act.

Thing is, I suspect that between various factors, we're only seeing the start of Bad Times. Mostly due to the Fed printing money like bad, COVID doing havoc on the economy, and (?) the Boomers set to mass-retire some point in the next year or so.
