I hope Luther is looking at this and knows that this is his fault.
. . .
Do I really need to go into the various grooming and sex scandals of the Catholic Church? Or go over how, basically, the entire Jesuit Order was subordinated by a Gay conspiracy or the creation and injection of "Liberation Theology" in Catholicism by the Soviet Union? Or how the entire German section of the Catholic Church is near schismatic in their open support of LGBT issues?
This is hardly Luthor's fault. Humans are corrupt, and the Catholic Church is as subject to it as any human institution. Pre-Counter-Reformation Catholicism had quite a few issues, and post-Counter-Reformation Catholicism, while it managed belatedly to fix most of the issues that led to the Reformation has its own set of problems that it has its own set of problems and blaming a person who lived half a millennia ago for modern problems both places to much importance on that single person as well as denying the agency of the
TWENTY generations that have come since.
Seriously, you folks need to get over blaming the Reformation and Enlightenment for modern problems. You're functionally fucking Calvanists who are denying the agency of all the humans between then and now, denying their mistakes, their decisions, their agency, and instead acting like the humans of that time somehow set in stone the actions and decision of their decendents.
It's nonsensical and foolish, and also basically washes your own hands of having to take actions and responsibility. After all, if this was all the fault of people hundreds of years ago, there's nothing YOU can do about it, right? You get to feel smug and feel justified due to a
post hoc ergo hoc fallacy and relitigate things that nobody can change instead of doing the hard work of going out and making change in the world.
