Trailer for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga dropped.

It's a prequel to 2015's Mad Max: Fury Road and all of your favorites are there including Immortan Joe and the Bullet Farm and whatnot. Oh and Furiosa... a young Furiosa, portrayed by Anya-Taylor Joy.

Looks pretty shiny to me.

Kind of odd to do a Furiosa prequel, we already know how her story ends and we already know she won't find the Green Place in this story.

So another grrrl powah movie whose failure will be blamed on incels not seeing it?

Did people forget the first movie where Furiosa nub punched Mad Max in the face? It's the same Director as the previous Mad Max movies.

At least wait for a bit more to pre-judge the movie as being woke shit because it has a female main character.

I'm more pre-judging it because we already know where said characters story ends, and I'm not super interested in seeing where it started.

Oh yeah it wasn't really directed towards you. I should learn to quote more, it just borks up things sometimes when I'm on certain devices.

Apparently from the script, it takes parts of the Mad Max game that was released back in 2015 which apparently makes the game "canon" in the film universe.

Though with the Mad Max films being viewed as a sort of oral history as opposed to reliable narrator type of storytelling, true canonicity within the franchise is always in doubt. Never played the game before but at a glance, it received very favorable reviews on Steam so maybe that's good news for fans of the game.

It was an incredibly good open world action rpg that didn't really get the attention it deserved. I recommend picking it up on steam during one of their holiday sales.

Reviews for the movie seem pretty positive. Here's Chris Gore and some of his buddies thoughts on the film. Alan Ng seemed colder on it but he also wasn't a big fan of Fury Road either. All of them seemed to praise the action sequences and Chris Gore and the other guy seemed to level a lot of praise towards Anya Taylor-Joy and her performance as Furiosa and Chris Hemsworth chewing up the scenery as well as Tom Burke's role as the mentor to Furiosa. All three of them also seemed to enjoy the world building.

Some of the things they didn't like was how long the film was with Chris Gore stating the beginning was too long, and the ending dragged a bit. He then also said that a mid film action sequence was so good, that it made all of the rest of the still good action scenes pale in comparison. :p

Here's a JoBlo take on it. Notably this particular reviewer recently ranked Road Warrior and Fury Road as two of his top twenty five action movies of all time.

Both reviewers seem to state that this film wasn't quite as good as Fury Road and the increased blend of CGI unlike with prior films seemed more noticable. On the plus side perhaps they also mentioned an interesting quirk, which is that this film actually harkens back to the Silent Era of film, in that there are many scenes with very little, if any dialogue and a great amount of visual storytelling with the JoBlo reviewer pointing out how expressive the actors are, especially Anya, in regards to acting with just her eyes.
