And can claim they are part of the worlds second oldest profession. Now if only Muppet Labs could get their robot politician off the ground we could really clean house.

If this was done to appeal to latinos.....who this is full of cringe because even mexicans fully admit that the Aztecs were cunts. I mean the whole reason they lost was that they were such dicks that other natives allied with the spanish to take them down. And while the spanish were assholes they were STILL and improvement.

Shit like this is why I think we are in for a really heavy christian revival in a couple generations.

Because while church ladies are obnoxious busy bodies their better then.....that.

oh man that pissed off so many of the Latinos I know.

quite a few of them see it as an ethnic slur.

Rightly enough too, that made up term is pushed by persons who do not care what other cultures call themselves; they know better. How could they possibly be called Latino? Surely that is gendered and wrongthink and if only they were smarter or better educated they might realize that.

Sorry, that sarcasm probably damaged the screen you read that on. Stupid backward racist progressives...

There's been an increasing amount of this in recent years. In the past the Democrats could rely on GOP ineptness to keep the Hispanic vote (outside of Cubans) and didn't need to work at it. With Trump and the rise of the populist Right though, they're seeing the Hispanic vote slip out the door after the Union vote. The problem is that the Democratic leadership is, ironically, a bunch of rich white elites that struggle to remember their gardener's name and legal status. They've managed to pigeonhole minority votes thanks to a complete stranglehold on traditional media, not by actually acting in support or betterment of said groups, so now they're scrambling to retain their voter blocs.

So now we get to watch them attempt to cram their woke bullshit into propaganda aimed at groups that really don't give a shit about it. 'Hispanic' alone covers so many different groups as to be ridiculous. Cubans, Tejanos, Venezuelans, Guatemalans, various Native groups, etc. all have different priorities and desires. Attempting to clump them together to begin with is almost as inept as grouping every vaguely European group as 'White' and now they're trying to apply a uniquely American form of language retardation to the mix. Latinx makes no sense in Spanish and flagrantly playing to the Reconqista elements of Hispanic politics is in my mind seditious at the very least

Disagree pretty strongly here. Gab being hacked is bad, and a bad look too, but social media getting hacked is something that does happen. Literally every social media platform has had hacks at some point, including the mainstream ones like Twitter, Facebook, etc. Jack Dorsey's twitter has been compromised before, so Torba's Gab being compromised too is not something beyond the pale. Couple that with the fact that any Alt-Social Media is necessarily going to be a disproportionate target for it's size and be drawing on less in terms of talent than legitimately big Social Media like Facebook/Twitter does, the fact that it is going to get hacked sometimes is a tradeoff we have to make.

The obvious solution is not to put information that can be used to doxx you up, which Gab is very good about not requiring. The only thing that could be that they require is an email address, and at least from the article you linked and Gab's own comments those weren't even hacked, or if someone put their real ID in a private message, which isn't advisable anywhere. Passwords is an issue, for non-doxxing reasons, but again, that's something that does happen fairly frequently, and without an ID to link that password to it's not like they can be used for much.

Absent you having put your full name and address in a private post for unclear reasons, the media knowing your various internet pseudonyms private posts might fuel a buzzfeed article or two but is hardly "life destroying." At worst you can just change your existing passwords or grab a new throwaway email and make a new account.

Parler's hack was uniquely bad in that Parler had some sort of "verified citizen" status, which you could get by uploading pictures of your driver's license. This meant that a hack of Parler was inherently exposing their users to a lot more risk, a risk that Parler implicitly (or even explicitly, I'm not sure) encouraged their users to take.

And yeah, people putting themselves on the front lines of the culture war, using their real names and putting significant financial stakes into that fight, are going to be a bit odd. Trump's a bit odd too, and it's not like his twitter replies were a hugbox either. I'm not to keen on smearing guys putting it on the line to try to give right-wingers a place to meet and organize though, especially over pretty thin issues.

Tbh, if you hate alt-tech / alt-social media... why are you here at all?

I don't hate it, I'm just skeptical of Gab and Parler's feasibility in particular. Pardon me if my wording was too hotheaded. If they can improve themselves, tighten up security, etc, I'll be more optimistic, but either way I don't care for social media.
As for why I'm here, I'll just say that after observing the recent transfer of ownership and reversal of several bans, I felt more inclined to hop in than lurk.
You're right on your points about preventing a dox. One can only hope more people are learning to take precautions.

I'm not sure I share your optimism given how easily people have gone along with it thus far, even here in the US. Then you look at places like Ireland, who apparently are willing to keep going with their lockdown indefinitely, with only small protests that end up getting stomped down by the fascist-like police.

Shitlord

I was willing to check out Gonzalez' articles until he tossed out this one with its lies by omission. Yes, criticize Greg Abott's willingness to cozy up with big tech and simping for israel, but white-knighting for Gab and Parler to a lesser extent is an atrocious decision.

Aside from the fact that they did that to themselves by joining fucking Gab, there are two big reasons why Gab and Parler should be avoided:

Strange that Mr. Gonzalez wouldn't mention the life-destroying vulnerabilities of these sites, eh? Do I need to mention that gab's creator, Andrew Torba, is a doofus who spends his time fighting with people on twitter? Guy once posted an article from british tabloid trash site The Express and took it at face value! Meanwhile he'd rather blame Kushner for keeping Trump off Gab based on mythical "sources" when if he did join his replies would be full of Feds, National Socialists and Varg-ists calling him a cuck, lol.
"don't use anything but twitter and facebook guys or you get l33t haxxored'' This guy glows, the only people who ever mention kushner come from a leftyie discord.
