Its funny because I swear I've heard a bunch of complaints of villains being "queer coded" or whatever. So it's a damned if you do, damned if you don't deal. Sometimes its good to have the demonic spider be a friend to the gays, sometimes it'll make you a sponsor of conversion therapy. It's impossible to tell which will be the outcome.
