Middle East News Thread

Preston Stewart did a walkaround at the IDEX Show in Abu Dhabi which is the biggest arms expo in the Middle East. So big that Pakistan and Israeli are neighbours on the floorpad... hurr hurr hurr.

Back in my day, Arms Expos only took place in dingy warehouses and secluded mountaintops selling highly advanced American black market weapons or Soviet surplus as backdrops to Bond film style action spy thrillers.

Thank you for confirming my suspicions that you are actually an insert from alternate universe.

So about 17:00 minutes in the YouTuber mentions a country that I'm pretty sure doesn't exist anymore.

Not because its fictional mind you, but because Ultron wiped it out some time ago.

I suppose there must've been some survivors. You are such a resilient people. ❤️

Unsurprised they're investing in drones considering their history.

Ever since Baghdadi was killed in the last Trump Administration, the Islamic State has been going through Emir's like Trumps been going through felony charges.

Weird, this Abu Khadija guy looks A LOT like Donald Trump based on the above picture.

Pakistan might not be strictly Middle East but it's Middle East enough for the purposes here...

Just a few days after Baluch militants seized a train in Pakistan and set off the 2025 Jaffar Express Hostage Crisis which resulted in the death of over seventy people (including reportedly all 33 militants as well as 18 soldiers) Baluch Militants have launched further strikes targeting Pakistani security convoys in what is being seen as a major escalation of the long ongoing Baluch Insurgency in Western Pakistan.

This particular attack killed at least three soldiers and two civilians in what is being described as a suicide truck attack committed by the Baluch Liberation Army which itself has been declared a terrorist organization by Pakistan, Iran, China, the European Union and United States.

Over eight million people, over half of the total worldwide Baloch population, live in Pakistan where they make up between three and four percent of the population. Various Baloch Nationalism inspired insurgency has existed in Pakistan since the countries founding in 1947.

The OG Pirates have returned!

Somali Pirates hijacked a Yemeni Fishing Dhow in the Gulf of Aden. This came shortly after Somali Pirates almost seized another Yemeni Fishing Vessel in the third of such attacks in recent weeks.

Ironically this seized Dhow, despite flying a Yemeni flag, was also exclusively crewed... by Somalis. So that's funny too.

While still far lower then during their peak over a decade ago, Somali Pirate attack has slightly increased last year, supposedly due to insecurity caused by Houthi launched attacks upon international shipping in generally the same area.
