I'm not quite sure if this belongs here because it pertains to education, but then again, schools are a government enterprise, no? Anyway, here you go:
The Left doesn't believe that blacks can actually meet white standards and thus seek to lower standards for them. Now, I'm not opposed to greater compassion--I myself, for instance, think that I got excessively punished (getting a zero on a large assignment) for forging a homework pass back in my English class when I was in 10th grade in late 2007. (It does not appear to have affected my final grade for that class because I studied overtime and thus got a 93% on the class final. I did get a final grade of 83.81% instead of around an 86% in that class, though, but of course still good enough for a regular B.) So, Yes, I do think that students should be given some slack for offenses that are non-academic in nature (as opposed to academic offenses, such as cheating on tests). But this appears to be going WAY too far in regards to this.
This alt-centrist Twitter user is one of the biggest critics of this kind of mentality (specifically the perceived need for equity and lowered standards):
