Okay; who wants to talk about a joint French-Japanese animated series from the early eighties, that aired in English on Nickelodeon? Don't know what I'm talking about? Well, here's something that might refresh your memory:

To very briefly summarize the show, it was about a group of kids seeking the titular "Mysterious Cities of Gold"; and in the process having to deal with conquistadors, evil nuclear holocaust survivors, and the titular cities being remnants of an ancient, technologically advanced civilization. While the original show ended back in 1983, a second and third season were produced in 2012, and 2016, respectively.

Here are their openings, in English of course, if you're curious:

I still have to finish the first season, I'd gotten up to an episode or two after they escape Pizzaro the first time (alas, poor Solaris, she was a badass solarpunk sailing ship) and I just stopped watching. Probably since I was trying to buckle down and do more writing.

And yeah, I have it on Amazon too. Although I've heard some fans don't like the reboot/continuation from 2012 and on?

I haven't seen them yet, but I've heard that season 2 gets better as it progresses, and season 3 is actually really good. The sticking point seems to be the stiff and awkward cel-shaded 3D animation early on.

Wait, you didn’t finish the first season? I am coming down there for you...!

I don't even need that video to remember the entire theme tune :D

This and Ulysses 31 were my favourites as a kid

You see, I was utterly confident in my heart that all the interesting people watched MCOG, and it seems I was right.
