The Political Problem of Pornography

Don't misrepresent me like that. I am NOT saying that because they had slavery back in Biblical times therefore it's fine to have it today. I'm simply rejecting any attempt to guilt me other others here over things beyond our control.
Given a choice, we should obviously support companies that treat their workers well. But in this world we're not always given that choice.
...given that my own posts were in response to the above image... well.

...I suppose you also want to give up video games because crunch time is terrible. Also Japanese products since companies there literally work their people to death to such a degree they have a word for it, karoshi, and it's on their national death statistics. For that matter since drug testing can often be cruel if only because sometimes the drugs have very terrible indeed side effects that you want to give up medicine. For that matter lots of difficult/impossible to automate crops get harvested via underpaid and overworked individuals who are often illegal immigrants so I suppose you'll need to drop all of those crops.

If you want to drop something on the moral grounds of "some of it profits off of human suffering" you'll drop a LOT of things out of your life. And I hope you've never bought diamonds... or any electronics whose rare earths came from China.
I often refrain from buying things I would like to have because they are made in China, on account of practices such as the harvesting of organs from political dissidents.

Most of your examples, though, are not in any honest fashion comparable to the degradation experienced by porn thots, or the torment inflicted by human traffickers. When it comes to long hours and harsh working conditions, grown men choose these things, often knowingly. Not at all comparable to human trafficking, nor is it comparable to silly teenage girls going cock-riding for profit. I do not want to be part of either; I may not be able to prevent these things, but I can at least refrain from funding them.

Degradation? Interesting. I'd need to go find them again but I recall a number of tales of "porn thots" being quite empowered by their work.

Given that a few of those examples involve human traffickers this is a fascinating claim.

"Silly"... or cost-benefit weighers who didn't want to leave college with half a million in debt?

Certainly, you can find propaganda from the porn industry and sex-positive feminists saying that. It's not reality, however.

Silly because they are selling their virginity for dollars and cents, which will damage them in the long run.

People often feel 'empowered' when they do self-destructive things that have obvious short-term benefits.

Thot: "omg my pussy is worth tons of money and all I have to do is fuck and I'd be doing that anyway, so why not?"
Woman: "You are selling your youth, fertility, and chastity. You have a limited supply."

"Silly"... or cost-benefit weighers who didn't want to leave college with half a million in debt?
No one made them go to college -- or made them choose worthless degrees, for that matter. Even a useful credential that can help a woman earn vast sums of money is a small thing compared to the long-term consequences of harlotry.

...Have you seen job requirements recently? For that matter, have you been paying attention to what people say to kids?

"made"... well, not if you require a gun at someone's head to "make" them. On the other hand, if you think being constantly told by everyone around you that you HAVE to go to College to succeed isn't going to convince people to go...

Even useful degrees can easily saddle you with an absurd degree of debt whose stacking interest can fairly rapidly outpace your ability to make payments with your initial low level job.

You know, marriage being a stable economic situation is ending. And a lot of it is because hey, guess what, jobs requiring college degrees and college degrees being absurdly expensive aren't just issues for women.

Don't you know, it's so much easier to pretend that the system hasn't become designed to fuck over people with debt, than to admit doing porn to get through college is now an economically viable way to do things and that chastity is overrated and not terribly valued by modern society.

Clinging to the past and 'traditional values' is so much easier for these folks than admitting times have changed, social pressures have changed, and their values have not kept up with the realities of modern life.

I really wish our government could look at the actual results of policies and change them.
Ah, but then how would the loan companies, for-profit colleges, and bankers make a profit?

What those who cling and look to 'traditional values' don't get is that the system has changed, the world has changed, and not in their favor. It has built up inertia, just like an avalanche, and they are but pebbles trying to stop it.

In the socio-political realm, as in the natural realm, the rule is 'Adapt or die'. When they cling to 'traditional values' as the answer to today's problems, they are actively refusing to adapt, and come to terms with what actual solutions to today's problems might require.

How is this argument not just another form of “it’s the current year, guys?” I mean, this is just begging the question on whether or not college degrees are necessary, whether or not traditional values need to be abandoned.

This is nothing new. The idea that we are at the end of history and everything is new and different is deeply ignorant. Cycles of growth, order, degeneracy, and disorder, have repeated throughout human history and our current bout of degeneracy is far more alike past periods of societal collapse than it is unlike them. Those of us now alive may not live to see it pass, but it will, and those who arise from the ashes will be well-reminded of the idiocy of being 'tolerant' of perversion and usury both.

If a female is foolish enough to take out a massive mortgage for a college degree, too fucking bad for her. She would have been wiser to pursue a MRS, child-bearing and child-rearing while she's young and well-suited to the stresses involved. This would, of course, require that she get her head on straight at a young age, which is hard for thots whose mothers chose not to raise them, but oh well. It's hard all around.

Is that because they are becoming more useful, or because the market has become so over-saturated with college degrees?
I think it's more that the degree is an indicator that you can survive, at least at a minimal level, in an adult world without going completely around the bend, can run a PC, and may be marginally literate. Many of the degrees are worthless, in that you'll never do what you studied in college.

University degrees are becoming increasingly expensive, decreasingly useful, and increasingly damaging in terms of the poisonous values they indoctrinate young people with.

We need to stop pushing young people to go to college. My daughters won’t be going, at least not without strong discouragement from me.

I have several friends that never went to college like I did and get paid pretty well in trades. Additionally, from what I read from economists like Bryan Caplan, college degrees are a form of "empty signaling." The government has pushed so many students to go into college, it's unbelievable.

But even if we do need to have women go into college, why should they degrade themselves going into the pornography industry?

A college degree is also an indicator that an applicant is probably indentured to the banks through college loans. A worker beholden to pay off a vast debt or lose the use of credit (and possibly more!), is more likely to tolerate mistreatment and overworking. An employer need not be the owner of debt to utilize the pressure it exerts.

Whenever I hear people bleating about degeneracy and such, while acting like that (if it is even actually happening) will lead to societal collapse, and going on about how the future will return to their values from the past, I cannot help but roll my eyes.

It's like they want society to collapse and fall apart, just to prove them right, rather than society adapt and overcome using the morals of the modern day.

We are not at the end of history, but this isn't nBSG. 'This has all happened before, and will all happen again' is not necessarily true for the real world, nor should it be.

Dropping birth rates, extreme numbers of people saying they wont have kids, and degeneracy is absolutely afoot.

The fact that you roll your eyes at this is kind of mind blowing.
