Its the days before the Battle of Hoth, while on recon in a recently rediscovered Republic era colony world the Rebel pathfinders discover a larger semi-metallic, semi-stone ring that had been dug up by the former denizens of the world. However it seemed to have been abandoned along with the planet several decades earlier and the colony all but forgotten, retreating from the world as it is not deemed quite suitable for a base right now the ring is transported to Hoth where it is put into a storeroom and investigated.

A day later the Stargate activates to the surprise of the Rebels and slowly an odd unmanned droid/vehicle trundles into the room, looking over it the technicians hear a voice speaking a variant of what sounds to be basic asking them who they are and if they can talk to someone in charge. Several hours later the first visitors come through from the other side of the gate, an SG Team in full gear ready to talk with the Rebels and how they can help.

The current rules are in force.

1. This is the only Stargate in the SW galaxy, it is a special one of a kind much like the one on Atlantis.
2. SW does not exist in this version of events (too easy otherwise)
3. Thanks to the huge power generators of Hoth Base, the Stargate can easily lock onto Earth's allowing them to travel to Earth from Hoth, on the other end the SGC have plugged in a massive 304 scale reactor to allow them to use the gate to other galaxies once a week, however thanks to the Rebels that may change.
4. Disclosure happened with the end of the Ori War, the time frame is approximately ten years after the end of Atlantis, so do your worst.

How does this change both ends of this alliance, can the resources of Earth possibly make any difference to the Rebel Alliance or vice versa? How will the political and social ramifications of there being another human race of such a size in another galaxy effect the way both sides act?

Feel free to posit your own questions and answers.

What is that? I don't recall any acronym for "SW" in Stargate, and clearly "Star Wars does not exist" because the whole premise of the idea is that the SG-1 galaxy got hooked up with the SW galaxy.

Earth might trade technology with the Rebels, but I'm struggling to see why Earth would get involved in the SW galaxy's civil war. While ships in SW can travel from one end of the galaxy to another in a few days, apparently nobody does intergalactic travel, so Earth isn't really threatened by the Galactic Empire. Even if Earth does decide to help out the Rebels, they won't really have much of an effect on the war effort. Didn't it take weeks or months for Earth's 304s to travel from the Milky Way galaxy to the Andromeda galaxy? Even if the SW galaxy is right next door to the Milky Way, Earth forces won't arrive in time for Hoth. At best, they might make it in time to help out with the Endor operation. Also, Earth forces are a drop in the bucket compared to the size of the SW galactic civil war. At most, Earth might have a dozen 304s, maybe salvaged half a dozen Ancient ships, and maybe purchased/acquired a couple dozen other starships. At least half of them are going to stay behind to protect Earth (and/or Andromeda).

I guess the one trick that Earth might contribute would be the "beaming nukes onto enemy ships" trick, but that depends on the nature of SW deflector shields. Also, an Earth spaceship doesn't need to be present for the Rebels to pull that trick off; Earth could just give the Rebels the tech for the transporters and the nukes. Even if butterflies happened and the Rebel team on Endor failed to shut down the Death Star II's shield generator, the Rebel fleet would then be able to quickly annihilate the Imperial Fleet, crippling the Empire's ability to maintain their hold over the SW galaxy.

For infantry combat, Earth could give the Rebels the blueprints to make those life-signs detectors/minimaps that Shepherd used in Atlantis. That'd be quite handy.

Otherwise, not much happens until the Yuuzhan Vong invade. Earth will almost certainly help out the New Republic on this one because the Yuuzhan Vong are intergalactic and pose a threat to the Milky Way galaxy. Sure, Earth could ask the New Republic to bury the Stargate and delete the galactic coordinates of the Milky Way so that the Yuuzhan Vong don't know where the Milky Way is, but if the Republic fails than there is no hope for Earth if and when the Yuuzhan Vong come calling (unless it's like in 1,000 years and by then humanity has colonized most of the Milky Way, then they might have a chance).

Its not the only stargate in star wars, sort of. The Gree built their own versions called hypergates in the prerepublic era.

I'm not sure what Stargate Command could provide in such a short span of days before the Empire arrives unless they're really short of basic equipment and supplies. They could probably provide a very brave Stargate team to accompany the Rebels just to keep a liaison going (and hope they don't get captured) and link up again when they reach their next Secret Base and then they can provide proper assistance though again, I'm not sure what that could be beyond basic supplies. I'm assuming the Stargate Command isn't drowning in naqaudah, ZPM's or Trinium and the like so the only thing they could offer are Goa'uld Hyperdrives which must be pretty easy to use. ;) And Asgard Transporters, I'm assuming the SGC can build more of those.

Gree weren't the only ones.

Kwa also made their own version called the Infinity Gates.

Im not sure the SGC would pick sides to help straigt away. They've been burned in the past going down that road. Give them a couole months to get to know the rebels and independantly confirm what the empire is and then they would I believe help.
This would also give them enough time to meaninfully support the Hoth base during the attack and then bug out via the gate and or in rebel ships with the gate in a cargo hold.
The rebels cant afford to defend the base long term so would have to pull out at some point.

I imagine the support that the SGC provides short term would be very basic supplies. The rebel alliance at least in the original trilogy to me never seemed massivey lacking in supplies to conduct guerilla operations but was when compred to the jugganaut of the Empires industry. Or at least they seemed to get by but never had enough to call surplus/have big stockpiles
Longer term I'd imagine trade obviously but nothing to big like Hyperdrives from the SGC side at least. Maybe mostly logistics, repairs and support personel with minor bits of tech.

Joint special forces ops would likely take place as well. If onky for the SGC to identify whats out there.

As this is 10 years from the end of series roughly I dont know what SGC teams would be running around with and you can probably make a plausible case for most things.
Weapons wise I always liked the idea of something like a PPG from B5 but a better/more practical size and shape. They fired energy blasts instead of bullets to show Earth had progressed and in show they werent all pew pew bright glowing bolts of enegy either which im sure real life soldiers wouldnt necessirily like.
For armour I could see for a standard soldier something looks wise at least like an ODST from Halo or Starship Troopers (cgi) troopers but thats just my preference.

I dont think discovering extra galactic humans would shock the SW side to much. It'd be massively interesting and a great academic and theological debate and intrest but humans are aleady ubiquitous acroos the SW galaxy.
What it may do is chge the emperors plans. He may go after the alliance harder to consolidate his grip sooner to allow him to start investivating what new and intresting leople he can subjegate.

I think the more likely scenario here is that a bunch of Rebels end up evacing to Earth through the gate when the Empire comes knocking.

Depending on where the gate is at that point, and how well hidden it is from any of the Imperial scanner/sifter crews who would go over the base after the fighting ended, this could either result in a temporary refuge on Earth, or the Imperials finding the gate and possibly following them to Earth.

If the Imperial learn of the gate and where it goes/what it does, Palp will be taking notice.

Then it becomes a question of which is stronger; Earth's iris or Palp's patience with whatever scouting program he comes up with.

If the Imperials do not find the gate, then there is still the problem of powering it if the Rebels ever come back for it, or what happens to the dialing system if they move it without a DHD attached (no DHD mentioned in OP, so assuming it's not there).

I think the iris manages to stand up to several hours of an ancient superlaser. (probably on par to the ones mounted on super star destroyers).

I cant see the empire making a sucessful large scale incursion through the stargate and I dont think they can do extra galatic

I must admit when I came up with this I expected a lot of talking about the Battle of Hoth, but you guys have really surprised me by going off on post-Hoth tangents. I figured that a lot of Rebel troops and civilians would begin evacuating through the gate with as much equipment and supplies as possible (big boost to the SGC if they can get an alliance going) and the use of a planet or two as a completely untouchable sanctuary (IE not Earth) capable of sending supplies and equipment back to the Rebels as they begin building up infrastructure.

I dont think as the OP stands the SGC will be overly eager to help initially without knowing what the rebels and empire are like for themselves.
Theyve only just met the rebels after all.

I can see them taking back some rebels as the battle starts as long as theyre aware it may be a1 way trip.
If the rebels were to give some of these guys the next base coordinates they may be abke to restabkish the wormhole.
But in general I think the timescales at the moment dont give the sides enouh time to get to know each other and ultimately Hoth cannot hold even with the SGC's help.

It would be cool as hell though to see SGC troops, armour and X302 Mk? Squardans face of against the imperials

I feel like if the Enpire took both and found the gate, they would send recon druids through obviously, and we well know that can shut the portal. So they would probably do tests and the like, some contact happen, and perhaps a SGC member is caught and tortured.

As for it, I think a new constant supply would help the Rebels, and we'll. A place they can evac wounded instead of putting them on slow moving ships. Any attacks they do, and then move back to the planet. Food and supplies supplies dont rely on Wompas or Tauntauns

That's a good point. The Rebels could use the Stargate as a retreating point. Just have to make sure the Rebels pack it up before they go or else this will all get very tricky and require some more special missions to recover the Stargate and re-establish connection. I'm assuming they'd probably keep the Rebels on some secure offworld location akin to their many Alpha/Beta etc sites. Call it Echo Site or whatever. :p

Not sure what specifically would be brought from Echo Base. They'd have to pack up the Stargate well before the Imperial Troops enter the base so all of those poor soldiers and the like are probably still screwed and left behind, but I suppose the transports could better prioritize larger equipment and the like to load since they can roll/float smaller batches of equipment and personnel through the Stargate.
