The Americas The Tyranny of Trudeau's Canada

And there it is, the real reason the emergency powers act was invoked. As @Emperor Tippy stated, the emergency powers act would have little effect on the political realities of arresting these guys. What they really wanted was the ability to extend into a crypto crackdown. I'd suggest to all our Canadian friends that they move everything into privacy coins. The slow and steady encroachment of government power into the crypto space is going to accelerate now.
Oh I have no doubt he has many plans for this power, now that he has the opportunity to use it.

I'm more concerned about the banks than the cops/troops at this point. There aren't enough cops in the country to crush every protest and blockade, in no small part because a few truckers + affiliated supporters can set up a new blockade as soon as they leave to deal with the next one, while there's clearly division in the ranks of the CAF that makes them unreliable in suppressing the convoys at best. They're gonna have to go through some more purges before they can be deployed in full against the citizenry.

But the banks can instantly inflict ruin on basically anyone the government sics them on for so much as posting a social-media message supportive of the truckers while being protected from civil liability, per Trudeau's conference. Backlash in the form of a bank run is almost certainly inevitable, and that in turn can spiral into the start of a depression in no time at all. If Canada manages to remain in one piece after the dust from all this settles, it will still likely take generations to recover from the damage Trudeau is doing to the economy and the people's perception of our government & institutions. And for all that, it is but the very start of the regime's salvo: the Emergencies Act lets them bring into play a lot of other, much worse stuff once they've gained absolute compliance from the security organs. As I've said before, it basically means anything and everything goes, including jailtime for six months to five years without trial, without lawyers and (in the six-month minimum case, officially anyway...) without even charges to justify it.

I'm not exaggerating when I say that this is the most wide-reaching, brazen, oppressive and unfounded power grab by any government in Canadian history; worse than the residential schools (the only other alternative anyone at the time was considering was to just ethnically cleanse/kill all the 'troublesome' First Nations), worse than the internment of Japanese Canadians during WW2 (since at least that had an actual major war going on to loosely justify it), and worse than Trudeau Sr. imposing martial law on Quebec in 1970 (since the FLQ were actual terrorists engaged in bombings, kidnappings and murders). The disaster is already in motion, the regime has already shut off the last off-ramps and is now hard at work completely dismantling them; all that remains now is to see how far they'll go and how much more damage Trudeau will inflict before he too goes down.

In other news, just as commies on Twitter & Reddit are claiming the truckers aren't really working-class but 'petty bourgeoisie' and thus evil because as mainly owner-operators they own their own trucks, the CBC and other '''''experts''''' who I'm sure are totally not getting generous grants from Trudeau's regime at all are trying very hard to redefine the word 'freedom' to rhetorically combat the convoys. These word games the left likes to play have done more to damage liberty than all the armies and police forces on the planet combined, and there are no words in any human vocabulary that can express how much I've come to despise them in just the last few weeks.

Welp, time for a new generation of cash hoarders and transactors to be formed. Can't trust the bank, they can seize your funds and/or fail as everyone wants their money out so they keep cash, gold, silver, and other barterables. I mean, even if you aren't involved in the protests, you should be getting as much out of the bank now as you can; banks do not have more than a small percentage of liquid capital on hand.

I disagree about crypto being on the rise in this video. It relies on a government run infrastructure to work as opposed to hard currency which is water and food. Not precious metals. If shit really goes down and I have a case of water, you have a pile of gold you want to trade, and the beggar next to you has a case of twinkies he wants to trade, I will ignore you as gold is useless, but the twinkies are valuable so the beggar gets some of my water for some of his twinkies. You on the other hand starve to death or die thirst for stupidly hoarding gold instead of food and water/water purifying equipment.

The sheer hypocresy is what kills me. Putin and Xi openly admit they are autocrats. They might soften the blow and dance around it but they don't deny they are strongmen using strongmen tactics.
There's a Lincoln quote for this occasion. Funnily, he even specifically identifies Russia as the sort of dictatorship which, by virtue of its honesty in that regard, is preferable to the sort of Western government today that talks a good game about 'our' democracy and freedom even as they'd literally prefer to declare martial law to deal with the uppity working class rather than talk to them at all.
Abraham Lincoln said:
As a nation, we began by declaring that 'all men are created equal.' We now practically read it 'all men are created equal, except negroes.' When the Know-Nothings get control, it will read 'all men are created equal, except negroes, and foreigners, and Catholics.' When it comes to this I should prefer emigrating to some country where they make no pretense of loving liberty – to Russia, for instance, where despotism can be taken pure, and without the base alloy of hypocrisy.
Truly the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Yeah the lamps across Canada are definitely getting snuffed out, and they ain't going to be lit again anytime soon.
